From the Back Cover

"

""This is the first book to give social workers the tools to understand their clients' legal needs and rights and to address them collaboratively and effectively. Lyn Slater and Kara Finck ground their text in a comprehensive grasp of the legal system and the inequities of race, class, and gender that shape clients' experiences. Social Work Practice and the Law is a powerful call for social workers to be passionate and skillful advocates for their clients. Essential reading for social workers and lawyers alike who serve low-income people entangled in systems that so often fail them.""

Dorothy Roberts, JD

Kirkland & Ellis Professor, Northwestern University School of Law

Author, "Shattered Bonds: The Color of Child Welfare"

Based on the author's innovative and nationally recognized prototype for inter-professional work at Fordham University, this is the only volume about social work and the legal system that is written from the social worker's perspective. Devoid of ""legalese,"" the book is designed to help social workers develop the ability to reappraise, question, and challenge the law to best serve their clients. It aims to promote the development of a more strategic relationship with the legal system-a partnership that can achieve more creative and just solutions to social problems.

Exhaustive in scope, "Social Work and the Law" identifies current national and international trends and legal movements that support and invite inter-professional, critically competent social work participation. The book also identifies and explains the essential knowledge, skills, values, and attitudes necessary for the attainment of collaborative critical competence when interacting with the legal system. Each chapter includes vivid case studies based on actual collaborations that illustrate the application of theory to practice. Chapters also include legal, social work, and evidence-based resources. Key Features:

  • Promotes a proactive approach to the ways in which social workers can use law to promote clients' best interests
  • Addresses all domains of social work practice-child welfare, housing law, educational access, disability law, benefits, and more
  • Offers abundant case studies taken from the authors' real-life work
  • Devoid of ""legalese"" and written from a social worker's perspective

love Spigen products. I purchased the Spigen case and absolutely love it. It's durable and already protected my phone against several falls. So naturally, when it was time to order a screen protector, I chose the Spigen screen protector.

I live in a household where we ALL have multiple iPhones. Even my toddler has an older iPhone he uses to go on apps or play games on. Every now and again, my little guy gets annoyed with his "old" iPhone 5 and wants to upgrade and use my brand now iPhone 6S lol. In addition to my toddler playing rough with my phones, I am not the most delicate when it comes to phones. Needless to say, screen protectors in this house are a MUST!

I've purchased cheap screen protectors in the past and found I had to replace them every few months.

Unlike some of the cheaper protectors, the Spigen screen protector for iPhone 6s is made from tempered glass, not plastic. It is harder and less easy to scratch. It also protects your screen better because it provides a thicker layer of protection. It was also very easy to install. It pretty much came with everything needed to apply the screen protector. It also came with a very detailed instruction guide on how to properly install the screen protector.

I cleaned the screen with an alcohol wipe. I then used the dry cloth in the kit to completely dry my screen before applying the screen protector. The guide stickers are also included to pretty much keep the the installation dummy-proof. This helps against those nasty bubbles that form when the screen is improperly installed. Once my screen was clean, I used the stickers to guide and drop the protector onto the screen. It adhered perfectly and smoothly, with no bubbles.

The book was purchased for a Bachelors level course. When the book arrived it was appropriately packaged and came in mint condition. Through out the semester this book was used frequently for required reading and citations. The book itself is very well written and is an essential to any one going through a program which involves human services not just for social workers! Great book overall. I was very satisfied with my purchase.

Used for a masters level course on social work and the Law. I think it should be required for all social workers, both students and those in the field. I am not usually impressed with textbooks but this one was worth it.
