The box says that the scale is made in "P.R.C" & an attached sticker says "Made in China," but designed in Germany.
When you set up the scale, note that the directions are given as illustrations, & that the second illustration indicates that you must open the battery cover, pull out the red piece of plastic, & replace the cover, before the scale will operate.
Two, three-volt CR2032 batteries (the flat, button type) are included. It comes with a 5 year warranty, which is stated in enough different languages to make the United Nations proud.
Overall, this is an excellent value for the price, if you're looking for a small, attractive kitchen scale that is more accurate than you'll probably need.
I have used Soehnle scales for years and I loved this model for the kitchen for the 7 months it worked. I was going to give it another try because I've had such good luck with the brand in the past. Unfortunately, the price has increased by 50% - a bit steep for a product that doesn't work for more than 7 months.
- Accurate scale, 1 gram intervals
- Decimal readouts for both ounces and grams
- Removable top plate
- Small footprint on counter
- Easy to tare
- Elegant design (well at least I like it)
- Wish it had memory functions for taring
- Large bowls can make readout hard to see
I was looking for a scale to measure my 2 year old's food intake for medicinal reasons. Since I use this at every meal, I needed something that was accurate yet small so it wouldn't take up limited counter space. My final decision was between this scale and OXO Good Grips 1157100 5-Pound Food Scale with Pull-Out Display. They both seemed to have a small footprint, though now I think this one might have the edge in that category. However the OXO doesn't have a removable top plate for cleaning and it also only reads out ounces in 1/8 oz increments even though it can measure in 1 gram increments just like this scale can. Those to factors tipped me toward this Soehnle 65105. The OXO also looks a lot more utilitarian than this Soehnle. The 11 pound max is also a nice feature.
I do see how the pull out display on the OXO would be nice since large bowls can block the display, but 99% of the time I am weigh kid dishes. I wish that the scale had a memory function with taring so that it would retain a tare weight until I reset it. As it is, it resets to zero whenever you turn it on after it auto powers off.

I've had this scale for almost a year. When I got it, it seemed to be accurate, though I didn't do any calibration tests. Read morePublished 11 months ago by A. Michelson
Although this scale works well and looks good, you can do much better for less money. The Jennings CJ4000 costs slightly less and improves on the shortcomings of this scale. Read morePublished 18 months ago by Clay Weston
The Soehnle 65105 is an excellent kitchen scale for weights in excess of 2 grams to 5000 grams (5 Kilos or 11 pounds). For lighter items at small volumes (e.g. Read morePublished 20 months ago by KTN
The scale is fine. However I am disappoint with the batter cover. It keeps falling off. Also I should have checked closer but I do not like the batteries that are used. Read morePublished 20 months ago by David M.
Bought the scale, used it once, worked fine, then put it away. Took it out a few weeks later and it wouldn't turn on. Hmm, perhaps the original batteries were old? Read morePublished on June 30, 2014 by R S
