One thing to note was I was initially unable to turn the scale off using the touch sensitive on/off/tare icons. Turns out (thanks to Amazon answers) you need to keep your finger on the on/off icon for a few seconds rather than just touching it like you do to turn it on. That was something not covered in the included instructions.
The only other thing I found interesting is the original price for this unit. $498 (you save $469.05)?!? I'm sure that must be a mistake as I doubt many were sold at that price :)
I have two minor complaints about this scale that prevent me from giving it a higher rating.
First, at very low weights, if weight is added in small increments, it doesn't register at all, even to relatively large total weights, which can be troublesome. It's fine if something is added all at once, or if something is added gradually at greater weights. But if you have something very light, and are trying to add to it slowly, it can be a problem. This is a minor acceptable annoyance relatively speaking, though.
The second problem is more troublesome, but still not critical. If something relatively heavy is added, you can't tare it immediately from the off position as is the case with lighter items. You have to tare it with nothing on the scale, add the heavy item, and then retare it.
Overall, though, this is a great scale. I'm very satisfied with my purchase so far and doubt that I would find a scale I would be happier with.
After reading many reviews and determining that high precision scales that measure to the 0.01 ounce were a bit outside of my price range I decided on this scale by Soehnle. The precision is 0.05 ounce, which allows me to measure the ingredients for my breads and pizza dough with much more confidence than using volume measure would have done. The precision for grams is 1 gram.
This scale is attractive and easy to use. The tare function allows you to add consecutive ingredients to the same bowl if you so desire. I'm a bit more of a planner, so I like to measure all of the ingredients out ahead of time before I start the recipe, and this scale works fine for that method as well.
It does retain its settings between uses, so if I have it reading ounces when I turn it off, it is set to go in ounces when I turn it back on. Easy to use, easy to clean, perfect for my needs at this point, I am very pleased with this purchase!
