I’ve read Lindsay’s British Raj series and know that she is a master of settings and storytelling. Sofi’s Bridge is no less engaging and may possibly be her masterpiece to date.

Sofi’s journey to uncovering secrets in her life, to freeing her sister from both physical and mental bonds, and to spiritual growth and love, is set in captivating action from page one. I held my breath from the start. What I love most about Lindsay’s books, and Sofi’s Bridge, in particular, is the writing. The words draw me in, construct a new and vivid world around me, and keep me reading totally removed from reality.

I also love the way Lindsay’s characters unfold with the sincerity and honesty of a rose. She’s truly a gifted author, and the life-giving messages she builds into her stories; for example, Sofi’s ultimate challenge, trusting love, makes each novel culturally unique, meaningful, and memorable.

Sofi’s Bridge will appeal to men and women of all ages. I absolutely recommend it and hope to read more about Sofi in the future!

Timeline was fascinating, characters well drawn out. Writing not a five star but still well written. Enjoyment factor high for me. Many novels I've recently read were extremely forgettable. Not this one. I remember the plot, the characters, even the "side" characters. Even small details and that says volumes for this one. I remember thinking I wasn't 100 percent invested in the actual "romance" per se, but the developing relationship H/h was well written. And there was a small amount of what I call "melodrama" with the "bad guys". But all in all a recommended novel and I definitely didn't feel my time reading was wasted. I found Sophie' s mathematical gifts more real than some authors' made up gifts given to their female heroines too.

With a fantastic beginning, a satisfying end, and a wonderful intricate middle this book kept me intrigued from page one. I loved the hero, Neil Macpherson. It’s clear from the start that he has a compassionate heart and healing skills. While Sofi doesn’t trust him initially she can see he’s helping her sister, Trina, recover from her father’s tragic death. Sofi has an amazing skill of her own. Her father taught her how to design bridges, but in a time when women were not allowed to work. When she sees the bridge she designed being put together with inferior materials, she is appalled. As Neil and Sofi grow closer, imminent danger threatens to pull them apart. Inspiring, interesting, and well worth reading.

After her father's unexpected death, Sofi's mother finds comfort in a bottle of laudanum while her sister, slips farther into another world. Her own grief is shoved aside as she formulates a plan to keep her sister out of the sanatorium and get the help she really needs. She decides to trust an unknown man with kind eyes and a gentle voice with a secret past.

In the process, she discovers the bridge she designed is being built, but something is drastically wrong. The calculations don't add up, the metal is falling apart, and people are getting hurt. More secrets surround her with every passing second.

I had a hard time getting into this story but once I did, it kept my attention.

When a book holds you captive from beginning to end, and makes you sigh in satisfaction mixed with regret once the journey is over, you know you’ve experienced a great story. Sofi’s Bridge is a great story.
Sofi inspired admiration within me from the beginning, as she throws aside “proper” behavior in order to save her younger sister. Sofi’s gift for mathematics and architecture are frowned upon by society, but her late father had encouraged her—to a point. I found her struggles with the expectations of society and her stubborn determination compelling and awe-inspiring.
Dr. Neil is the best kind of hero, too, with his dark good looks, gentle manner, and dreadful secret. His compassionate heart overcomes his instinct for self-preservation, and he gives up several chances to flee in order to try to help Sofi’s sister. The budding but forbidden romance between Sofi and Neil intertwined with a strong message of the necessity of faith in God and His goodness, in spite of personal pain.
I loved this story and award it five stars. Highly recommended!
