About this item
- 6 watts 84 pcs LED producing 730 lumen (full power mode) upon Guardian PIR Motion Sensor activation. Normal operation or dim mode with 55 lumens (dusk to dawn or 7-12 hours). Standalone PIR Motion Sensor allows extended area of application, whilst dim mode lighting eliminates total dark spot. Full brightness 730 lumen stay on for one (1) minute.
- NEW IMPROVED FEATURES: 3 lighting modes. GREEN LED: Dusk to dawn (normal floodlight). PIR sensor does not work when this mode is selected. BLUE LED: PIR motion triggered full brightness (730 lm), normal brightness is 55 lm. RED LED: Light is off when no motion (complete darkness). Light is on when PIR motion sensor is activated. In all above working modes, the light will only come on at night (or when the day turns dark). The light does not turn on during day time.
- Standalone PIR Motion Sensor detection range 10-12 meter, 180 degree. 2500 mAh Lithium battery bank. Lithium battery has strong thermal stability, good tolerance to abuse, high current rating and 1,000 cycle life.
- Installed within minutes. ***BONUS: Longer cable on PIR Motion Sensor*** Making total cable length for PIR motion sensor 3 meter.
- Customized and powered by high efficiency Super Cell industrial grade 2 watts aluminium frame solar panel (compact design). Using high efficiency LED driver to support constant power output. Mid August 2022,I notice it stopped coming on in the mornings,I thought the battery was no longer strong enough. Then about a week later I noticed it wasn't coming on at dark either.I bought a light to replace this one, because it's currently not in Stock (or I would have bought another one of these).
I bought a replacement light, and needed to take this one down,I discovered that the motion sensor bulb was destroyed, and the casing of the sensor was broken also.I unplugged the the motion sensor, and changed the setting on the light,it came right on.So it's not going to be aa dusk till dawn light.
The picture is from this morning September 3 2022.The light is quite dirty on the back side, the cords are a bit more yellow, but the solar panel is still in amazing shape for 7 years outdoors.I've got lights that are less than 2 years old,and the solar panels look terrible.

panel array and not the LED array. Most installations, I would guess, would need the motion detector collocated
with the LED lights. To correct this you could either splice in a longer cable for the short cable going to the
motion detector making it long enough to reach to where you have mounted the solar panel array. Or, as I have
done, you can replace both cables with a single multi-conductor cable. I had to do it this way because I needed
to mount the solar panel more than the 15 feet of the original solar panel to LED array cable length. So both
cables got replaced with a single 5-conductor cable. The manufacturer warned in a response to another review
not to make this modification. (Note: Oddly enough, the photos in the instruction manual that came with my unit
show the motion detector connecting to the LED array. Apparently, the design changed but the instruction manual
wasn't updated.)
I was expecting to do the above cable splice when I ordered the unit so that's not why I'm giving just 4 stars.
I'm replacing an old cheaper unit with this unit (for various reasons). The cheaper unit had a sensitivity adjustment
(so you can set the light level at which the unit comes on) and it had a timing adjustment (so you could set
how long the lights stay on). The Guardian 580X has neither of these adjustments. It's my fault for not reading
the specs closer but it didn't even occur to me to make sure those adjustments were present. Therefore, only
4 stars for the missing features.
In operation the LED array provided more than adequate light output. The instruction manual says the light will
activate for 45-60 seconds. I ran multiple tests and found that my unit activated a random amount from 40-115
seconds.
Amazon delivered quickly to our home in "Sunny Florida" - over 18 inches of rain in 10 days here when delivered, BTW... The instructions on the floodlight say to charge the solar panel for at least 8 hours of direct sunlight. Under the weather conditions I was wondering when I would be able to see this solar floodlight in action.
***SHORTCUT TIP*** I put the solar panel under a LED light fixture I had built with two 10watt 4000K lamps for about 3 hours. At that point I was able to set the light up for testing in the garage. It was awesome to see the light in action as it was designed to operate. I then made two brackets to attach to the palm tree. One for the light and the motion sensor and the second mounted 3 feet below for the solar panel. I covered the wires in between the two brackets with a piece of aluminum window screen frame to protect the wires from the elements.
So far, Very impressed. The sensitivity of the motion sensor is very good, the output of the light is awesome for a stand alone fixture not dependent on line voltage. This is perfect solution for remote areas that are impractical to run electrical circuits to.
I am interested to see how the lithium battery holds up over time; By mounting the solar panel 3 feet below the light fixture, is is easily accessible if the battery needs to be replaced.
I will update this review in the future to share the performance of this product.
**Update** - It has been four months since the installation of this floodlight. I set up the light for motion sensing only; As initially stated, the sensitivity is great. The sensor picks motion from both the street and the sidewalk at a wide radius around the area the light covers.
The light charges well with the same brightness as when first installed. It puts out a huge amount of light right where I want it.
Still five stars and two thumbs up!

Still working like new. I set it to only come on with the pir due to lack of sun light to charge the battery preventing the use of the dim light on during the night. There is a large tree to the south of my house that prevents sunlight reaching the solar panel at the best time of day so mine only gets charged up for a few hours in the morning if the sky is clear.
September 2016.
Great quality item. I will update this review if there are any reliability issues.
The solar panel holds the battery and control unit so you get to place your lamp about 6 meters from the solar panel and the pir can be 3 meters from the solar panel. Not ideal as I need to place the solar panel near roof level to get the sun but the pir at ground level near the lamp.
I also noticed that there is a small transparent/clear O-ring on one of the cable connectors, to the lamp I think. It looks like it needs to be removed and then put on the very end of the connector to stop water ingress, which is what I have done. This seals the connector when the two parts are pushed together.

Plus:
Well made, neat package, easy to assemble and it works
Minus:
The PIR is oversensitive and responds to trees blowing in the wind. Not possible to adjust.
Time of light is fixed. Not possible to adjust.
Charge/battery capacity won't stand a couple of dull winter days in a row. If it's a long sunny day then no problem; if it's been a dull winter day then the battery will be flat in no time - and winter evenings is when it's needed in my case.

Update - nearly 2 years old, still working fine, very pleased, but I see the price has gone up from £35 to £52, why?
