I buy anything that this author writes because she is amazing. I especially love this book because i am going through a most difficult time in my life and i keep this at my bedside and reading it calms me down and brings me back to the present. It has given me a reminder about acceptance, and open heart and achieving serenity. This book is actually 3 parts. 1 part written by Sylvia and 2 parts written by other Buddhists who know insight meditation. A gem of a book.

I chose this book because I listened to an interview on NPR with Sylvia Boorstein. Feeling inspired, I bought the book.
It was an easy read. Since I am going through a difficult time in my life, this book has been very helpful. Readers may find it a practical guide to finding a path through the rough patches.

I'm torn between 3 and 4 stars. I'm almost finished with hit. The Norman Fischer section is solid, the Tsoknyi Rinpoche feels slight and thin and not that great. The Boorstein (the last installment of the three) so far is really good, the best of the three. My biggest complaint is that whole book feels a bit slight, too short and bit like it was cobbled together. And then just the other day I saw the exact same Fischer text being presented in one of Lion's Roar magazine, so that felt a bit disappointing, paying for the book and then seeing the same section reprinted as an article. / Addendum to above review written a week later: I finished the book and the Boorstein section really was terrific, so much so that I'm reading another book of hers. I think her section in this book is almost worth the price of the book by itself.

This book gave me some wonderful anecdotal stories and insights on how to "handle" some of life's bumps in the road. I love Sylvia Boorstein and Rinpoche and reading their respective chapters made me see myself in a different and more compassionate way. A wonderful book on grace was all I needed... I got more ! Big experience from a little book. Highly recommend !!
