"I loved this book. Loved. It. Why? Because there was so much to love about it, that's why. Dax and Beck were lovable, likable, and desirable. And together, they burned up the pages. Their connection was intense and real."
Missy of Give Me Books
"On Solid Ground genuinely opened my eyes to things that I had never come across in other books. It had: conviction, it had feelings, AND, it had heart."

Denise of Shh Mom's Reading
"These two characters were just screaming at me to read their story. So, I took a chance and I have to say this book is one of my favorites of the year. Loved. It. Hard. Loved it so much that when I was done reading it, I started it over again. I'm having a hard time letting go of these men and this incredible story."

Beck is the co-owner of a successful tattoo shop. He has had a hard life since the time he was a young boy. When a bad situation from his past becomes worse Beck ends up with a huge responsibility. While trying to deal with the stress and pieces of his life that have become chaotic he meets Dex. He is immediately drawn to the sexy soldier and can’t wait for the opportunity to get his hands on him even if it’s only for a tattoo.
Once they figure out the other is also gay they are finally able to admit their attraction to each other. Not only do Dex and Beck find comfort with each other but form a deep connection.
Can two men who have experienced so much loss heal each other? What will happen when even more heartache is thrown their way? Can their relationship survive?
On Solid Ground is such a beautiful heartbreaking story that had me pulling for both men to make it through all the heartache and reach the happiness they deserved. The authors writing style was great. The whole story flowed perfectly. The scenes and characters were well-developed. It was emotionally intense and brought me to tears many times while reading. I look forward to reading more by Melissa Collins in the future.
This book touches base on a few different things that are difficult in life and even more difficult to write about. I get a little weird when book touch on some subjects because If not written well it can really ruin a book no matter how good it started but I should have know there were no worries with Melissa Collins.
Dax and Beck are to amazing men. Amazing in their own ways and for different reasons but amazing non the less. Though both had different pasts it didn't stop them from coming together. These two make the perfect couple. The last M/M book I read was by Melissa Collins and I will say that I can't say this book topped it but it came very close. I loved these two men from the start. Violet was an added extra bonus that made me smile with every scene she was in. The things that poor girl witnessed. My heart broke for her. I couldn't imagine. But thankfully Dax and Beck were there to help her through it.
This book is a very emotional read. I teared up several times and even had some tears slip out. I couldn't help it. I was consumed from page one and didn't want it to end when it did. If you like M/M books then this is definitely one for you.

Well...this one is confusing.
I wanted to like this book so much, I really did.
It has all the ingredients that should make a good story; Dax and Beckett, muscled, sweet heart ex solider and a bearded tattooed pierced hottie...interesting back stories, what's not to like?!
But... I'm just not sure I liked them together. There isn't a massive amount of chemistry between them and it all feels a bit awkward, which is such a shame because the first tattoo scene was hot. Unfortunately none of the subsequent scenes lived up to that one.
Lexie and Chloe were pleasant, likeable characters.
The one character I absolutely adored was Tonka. But considering he's a dog I'm not sure it counts.
The too-ing and fro-ing drove me crazy. I lost count of the number of times one of the characters, mostly Beckett, walked away without giving the other character a chance to talk.
Mis-communication driven angst drives me potty! Real people talk to each other.
I'm not sure about the Violet storyline...
Do you leave a child, who has only just been placed in your care, with someone you've only known less than a week?
A child that has already been taken from her mother? A mother who is in rehab?
And do the authorities place a child with someone who works full time and has no child care provision and who seemingly has no where for her to sleep? She's either in his bed or on the sofa...
I know it's fiction but it just felt a bit flippant.
Around 70% it all just got ridiculous and I stopped caring.
I nearly detached a retina with the amount of eye rolling I was doing.
By 80% I was skimming.
I wanted to love this book but I ended up not even really liking it.
I really enjoyed this book, both the lead characters pulled at my heart at some point during the book, i just needed them to get there happy ever after.
Dax is suffering PTSD and the fact he has hidden that he is gay from his family and friends his whole life, and the great loss of someone he loved, he struggles with self- acceptance and whether others will accept him.
Beck is dealing with an awful childhood past that unfolds to be one of the worst things imaginable, hes trying to keep his sister on the right track all the while taking guardianship of his so very cute niece. this so isnt the time for a new relationship and all the pit falls that can come with a relationship, but in this case it is one of the best things that could happen for Beck and Dax.
Dax and Beck have a lot to work through but the journey they take is wonderful, honesty and trust, acceptance and love.
On solid ground is one of those book where you FEEL EVERYTHING, every emotion oozes through you off the page pulling you deeper into Beck and Dax's love story.
A brilliant m/m read.
Unfortunately for me, the chemistry which was there at the beginning seemed to fizzle out.
Dax, an ex-solier, has returned from battle with the scars to prove it both physically and mentally. He is in the closet and wants to start a new life and find out who he is outside of the confines of the military. He bumps into Beck one day and discovers that he is a tattoo artist, which is great because that's exactly what he is looking to do.
The tattoo scene was the best part of the book for me, the chemistry was smoking and I was really excited to read on. After this though, things move on quite quickly and there is a lot of back and forth - neither one is sure they are ready for a commitment due to numerous issues they are both having to deal with in their lives at the present moment but they keep being drawn to each other and so they don't really know if it's the right time to pursue a relationship or not.
However, their moments together were cute and they made a great couple. Overall, I thought it was okay :)
This is a must read if you haven't experienced m/m yet then do so with this one...I would give this so many more stars than 5 if I could...Melissa keep up the brilliant writing can't wait to see what's in store for us next...she most definitely on my top authors list...one click today and meet dax and beck...a soldier and a tattoo artist
I fell head over heals with dax and beck there connection was so intense you could feel it on every page
These to men had me hanging on the edge of my seat

This was such a beautiful emotional journey I laughed and cried and my heart broke but also got put back together
