At first, I also thought he would end up with Elizabeth because he was attracted to her but then when you continuing reading the story you find more closeness between him and the other woman. And that was all between kidnappings, plans to kidnap females on a stage (& nothing nice about taking them).
There is a little conversation about saloons & the prostitutes but, goodness, that is what they had back then. Nothing explicit, only that one was pregnant and the criminals' plans to sell the females they kidnapped.
This book is very real life. Maybe nothing really happened exactly like this - but various things that was written in this book - really did happen.
The story has a large cast of characters, some good, and some outlaws. The plot twists kept me in suspense and the pages turning as the story unfolds and with the outlaws finally caught. The dialog is open and honest, with a reminder that no matter what, God forgives. “We may not know why things happen, but no matter what, we can know that God strengthens us and help us.” This is the fifth story in the Hymns of the West series but will read easily as a stand-alone.
