- How will this work with my satellite /cable? Combining FREE HD local channels with satellite and cable work out very well. Especially if you that means you can stop paying for local channels, which should be free, from your cable or satellite provider. TV Antennas often pick-up channels that paid providers dont carry.
- How FREE is HDTV? Very. Over-the-air TV signals have always been FREE with no monthly fees. Plus, the quality these TV signals generally produce a better picture than satellite or cable TV.

My two previous antennas were the Winegard SS-3000 and Mohu Leaf amplified antennas. The Blade easily surpasses the Mohu Leaf and surpasses the SS-3000--I suspect--because I can tape the Blade to my balcony glass door--something I cannot accomplish with the SS-3000 because of its bulk. This is another thing I much prefer about the Blade relative to the SS-3000: its thin design allows me greater flexibility in where I can locate the antenna.
I discarded the SS-3000 and Mohu Leaf. I also purchased a fourth antenna: the Walltenna. The Walltenna has a similar overall design to the HD-Blade but uses a slightly different element design with a different element composition: copper as opposed to silver for the HD-Blade. The Walltenna performs very similarly to the HD-Blade but just a little less well; I am not sure if this is attributable to the difference in element design, element composition, or both. Nevertheless, the Walltenna also surpasses the SS-3000 and Mohu Leaf in performance. I intend to retain both the Walltenna and HD-Blade but prefer the blade because of its slightly superior performance.
I live approx 20 miles from down town Chicago. My TV scanned all channels and found 18.
Unfortunately, there are only 2 usable.
I just purchased an indoor amp in hopes to clear up this issue.
None of that above really talks about the antenna itself, so: Very good reception. Easy to set up. One side black, the other white to help fit in somewhat unobtrusively near TV.
Note: every area is different with how many and what kind of channels you will get. Check it out before dumping cable altogether.
But, if you are like me, you won't care about this in the long run because the product will pay for itself in a couple of months. We were paying about $15 per month for budget cable (mostly just local stations with one or two cheapo add-on stations like WGN and ION). And the Evil Comcast Empire wasn't even giving us an HD signal for that price. With this product, we are getting excellent HD signals from the local network affiliates, and a decent number of the free local stations you used to get only with UHF. We did play around with positioning a bit to find the best signal, but we are now very happy. Can not compare it to any other products because this one works, so I have no reason to try anything else.
We live in suburbs not far from Portland, Oregon. Can't tell you how well it will work farther out, but it does the trick for us.
If the product price were a bit lower, I would give this five stars.

These HD blade antennas are great! They pick up all but the weakest signals and can be placed virtually anywhere. I have four right now and all work well. Read morePublished on December 31, 2013 by Michael R. Francis
