The whole purpose for buying this keyboard was to learn the kana-input keys so I could type Japanese into documents, forums, and social media sites while thinking in Japanese. Needless to say, everything just went better than expected.
At first, it was difficult to figure out how to install the keyboard, but I did eventually put everything together as well as begin researching programs to use to learn the Japanese language. There are a few links I'd like to share for anyone even remotely interested in using a Japanese kana-input keyboard, how to set it up, ways in which you can use your keyboard, etc.

I have not used the keyboard yet! I bought it as a gift for my girlfriend since she's taken a couple classes and wants to be able to practice on the computer a little bit. But it arrived very promptly and undamaged. The keys are printed on very clearly, the letters and Japanese characters pop very well and everything is easily distinguished. I took Russian classes in college and at the time, I bought some stickers for my keyboard to incorporate the Cyrillic alphabet in my typing, but they didn't last long and were annoying to set up. This is a much cleaner solution.

I opened the box to see if it came with instructions (since I suspect she'll need help setting it up) and I found them, they seem fine but they also look like they've been translated from another language rather than typed in English (so things are worded a little strangely, but understandable). Also, it covers installation up to Windows 8, but not Win10, so it needs updated. I know the process is similar, but Windows 10 changed the language installation options a lot, so to a less informed user it may be very tricky.

I'll try to update the review once we've set it up and she's used it a little.

I bought this because I got serious about learning Japanese after a couple of halfhearted attempts over the years. Now, you definitely do not need a Japanese layout keyboard for Japanese input and most Japanese today use either "Flick" style phone input or a regular US layout QWERTY keyboard and romaji input, however I wanted to have kana input specifically to help me concentrate on the real sounds and 'spelling' and I also wanted the additional keys to make using the IME a little easier. This keyboard is nothing special, overall but it is also perfectly adequate and priced accordingly. I recommend it to anyone in a similar situation as an inexpesive way to add to their learning experience.

This keyboard works great. The keys are easy to use and I was pleasantly surprised with how similar it was to the standard american layout. It took me a while to figure out how to write in Hiragana and Kana and Katakana but once I figured it out all was good. I recommend this to anyone that plans to type in Hiragana Katakana and Kana whether they be a native speaker, a student, a teacher, what have you as this is a wonderful keyboard to add to your collection.
