Yup, it's almond paste. And, it's 7 pounds in a nice metal can. I was glad to see that the can didn't require one of those industrial can openers. I just stuck it under my Oster and away it went. I had to hold the can up and feed it a bit, but it still worked fine. Once opened, I was able to just dump the can shaped lump of paste on my cutting board easily enough and I proceeded to cut it into pieces to freeze. It worked out great to make almond horns ([...]) .....mmmmmmm.....I haven't had those in years. It was easy to work with and easy to freeze and you can't beat the price compared to the little containers of almond paste available in the stores and on Amazon, especially when you consider that I got this as a subscription item and used my Amazon Mom status to get 20% off. Cha Ching!

I expected it to be a "PASTE" not rolls of MARZIPAN. I used to buy this at the local store, the exact same can, but the paste was 'spreadable' . I e-mailed SOLO about it and they suggested I put it in the microwave in 10 second incriments to soften but that did not help, it went more rubbery. I gave away the can I opened and still have the other one. I shall not buy any more. Sorry.

Be aware that this paste has à very chemical taste. There is allons flavor inside...a lot of it...i'm used to rich almond paste that does not need the extra chemical flavor to taste good...i'm disappointed

After ordering this almond paste, I found some in a local store for less than HALF the price! Not a good deal.

Solo Almond Paste is an awesome-tasting, gluten-free and wheat-free ingredient. Not only are Almonds packed with more nutrients than white flour, they lend a really nice flavor and texture to baked goods. I use this versatile product quite often, including in Almond Biscotti, and in various cookies. Very disappointed. I wanted a can of Solo almond paste. The presentation on the Amazon page looked like a can, however it is not. It is a package. Could not send it back as it is a food item, however I felt misled.

I absolutely do NOT recommend this brand of almond paste to any home baker. Every Christmas, I have dozens of fruit cakes to decorate - first, with a layer of almond paste and second, with fondant. Almond paste adds delicious flavor to the rum, fruits, brown sugar, etc. But, because fruit cake can be quite lumpy, the almond paste creates a smooth, level platform upon which to place the fondant which, in turn, is decorated with snowflakes or whatever I desire. SOLO almond paste comes out of the package dry. When rolled, it cracks and breaks apart. You must constantly push the edges together and re-roll. Then it breaks apart again. When you try to place it on the cake, it cracks and breaks, particularly along the edges. So you have to patch it, losing any smoothness. If you add water (a common way to soften almond paste) it sweats. And no matter how much you knead and knead, some sort of icky liquid sweats out. This oozes through the fondant and creates a mess on the surface of the cake. There is another almond paste in a long tube (I'm not sure if I'm allowed to mention the name) which is much, much better. Buy that. I also make my own almond paste. But because I have so many cakes to decorate, it isn't always convenient to do so and I must rely on commercial brands. I will never buy SOLO again and neither should you.

The sealed packages I received were much dryer than I'm used to. They were still usable and the cookies I made with them turned out great; but next time I would add a little water while breaking up the bricks.
