Each and every Solo Stove Bonfire is precision made with state-of-the-art machinery, premium materials and a touch of skilled craftsmanship. Bonfire is every bit functional as it is beautiful.
How the Bonfire Works (without the use of fans or batteries)
1. Airflow - Cool air comes in the bottom vents to feed the fire and enters between the two layers of stainless steel to be heated up. Having cool air come in the bottom vents allows the fire to always plenty of oxygen.
Raised Ash Pan
Using our patented design and specialized construction process, we have created the most beautiful single unit fire pit ever. Setup is as simple as flipping the ring on top!
Enjoy with Friends
Whether you use the Bonfire to toast some marshmallows or as the perfect backyard ambiance for your summer party, we know you’ll have unforgettable experiences around your Bonfire.
Nature Friendly — Wood Burning Fire Pit
Any firewood will burn but for the best efficiency we recommend dry hard woods. Hardwoods such as birch, maple, hickory and oak will burn longer than softwoods.

Update October: this fire pit is still amazing! I wouldn't leave it outside or it starts to rust. We use the starter log bricks and only need to break off a small piece to get the fire started. Once it's going it's good. We have it on our wood deck and set it on a couple pavers so the deck doesn't start on fire but the bottom doesn't get very hot. The cage we bought for the top keeps all the sparks from going on the deck so it's perfect. We have fires at least twice a week since we got it and no issues:)
01/04/18: had to drop from 5 to 3 stars. My bonfire has begun to rust. I've kept it clean, dry, etc. the rust started just recently the morning after an evening fire. Very concerned this will degrade and destroy the fire pit...
It was 52 degrees last night and I was in a t-shirt and shorts sitting almost 4 feet away because the fire was HOT! There were 4 other people around it and all were toasty.
I'm 55 and a pyromaniac. I've been building fire for 50 years in all sorts of contraptions. THIS IS THE BEST FIRE MACHINE I'VE EVER USED!!!!!!! The only negative is I no longer have any use for my favorite fire poker. Once you put something into this washing-machine-tub looking-thing, it will burn. There is no need to readjust anything to make it burn. I've used it 4 times and even the soggy root ball that I've been trying to burn for the past six months(I even poured gasoline onto it a month ago and it still would not burn) was reduced to soft gray ash!
I've already used my quota of exclamation marks in this review, so I will end it.
Now for those that might be concerned with having to leave it out over night especially if rain is on the way. Get the Campfire defender. It's a fireproof blanket, that will cover the Solostove. I've put the link up. This is a huge life saver for this thing.

A couple of weeks ago I bought the Forge from wirefires.com and although it's pretty epic, it doesn't fair as well as I'd hoped when it's windy as the smoke comes through the sides. It also goes through a lot of wood.
The Solo Stove Bonfire was ridiculously easy to light thanks to the excellent airflow and once it gets going the secondary burn jets kick in and it's a truly beautiful thing to behold.
It doesn't throw as much heat out horizontally as a traditional fire pit due to the insulating effect of the double wall, however the fact that most of the heat goes straight up helps combust most of the smoke generated so there's definitely a lot less smoke and a cleaner, hotter burn. It also fairs extremely well when there's a bit of a breeze and is still remarkably smoke free.
It's a bit too big for us to take with us camping so the Solo Stove Ranger might be a better bet if you want something a bit more portable. I'm super happy with this purchase and I'm sure it will help my family enjoy more evenings out in the garden now that summer is on it's way.
As a purchaser of all the other stoves this brand manufactures, I am well acquainted with its “rocket stove” concept. The base gets “warm” at most, though the top three quarters does get blisteringly hot with the full fire raging! Once the fire is down to a single log, the base is cold enough to manhandle.
The tote bag provided with the unit is very useful, both for transportation and for stowage.
Not sure why the grate and ash pan aren't removable for cleaning. Means the entire bonfire needs to be inverted to clear it of ash. A minor point really. The unit is an attractive addition to our garden deck.
Got this item delivered in 8 days including a weekend, so my hat is off to the shipping department!
It is a bit pricey, but I chose to invest in a Fire Pit that the whole family can enjoy.
I spent the month of June / 2018 travelling through Northern Ontario with an RV and used my Bonfire at least a dozen times. Moving firewood from one location to another isn't permitted in our Provincial Parks (bug thing) and purchased firewood in these parks is primarily "birch". I met another camper with a Solo Stove Bonfire and struck up a conversation concluding that we both have experienced sagging and distortion of the perforated floor of our units. Birch is a harwood that burns fairly hot - but I still wouldn't have expected the metal used under the burning wood to distort. I'm looking into having a local shop weld in another base.
Had to drop a star.
