unlike the motion sensor pedometer i also have, this one does not have a step delay function so you don't have to walk 10 continuous steps before pedometer decides to record your steps, so its perfect for steps taking in your house or office where you don't often take ten steps to get to areas of it.. it was hard to open at first like others mentioned but, than i realized if you push down on top of left clip as you pull up and back on latch, it opens quite effortlessly.. overall its pretty accurate and i like it a lot better than my pedometer that has a lot more functions..
It on occasion thinks me quickly plopping down on the couch is a step too but, overall its quite accurate..it does make a light clicking sound as you walk but, you get use to it and personally i like it cause i know its counting my steps like it should be so i don't have to keep checking to see if it is like i had to do with my other pedometer i used before getting this here one..
Also not sure if normal since some reviews recommended buying one but, i actually receive a safety leash with mine..have not personally really needed it but, on thin waist bands, it will be useful to have.
Couple of qualms about this:
Need to hook to belt or waist, would have been nice if we could put it in the pocket. Not sure how accurate it will be in the pocket.. the instructions show that the device need to be horizontal to work properly.. I guess since it sis a sprint loaded mechanism.
Some times you hear the clicking sound of the spring, its very faint but it is there.
I wish I could find some pedometer that will keep accurate count.
I had a rapid email exchange with Yamax customer service in Japan which informed me that the SW-200 was still available. I had very satisfactory service with Amazon in returning the CW-200 and receiving a full refund, and ordering and receiving an SW-200. I wore them both for a day before sending the CW-200 back. Each one counted my steps exactly when I walked 100 and 200 steps. There was some variation in counts when I was moving around the house, doing miscellaneous errands, etc. which is not a problem as far as I am concerned.
I highly recommend this simple pedometer over the ones with various bells and whistles features.
LATER--I dropped and broke this pedometer 12 weeks after I got it. The information that came with it said "Call if your pedometer needs repair 888.339.2067" I called the number and an individual answered and walked me through the steps needed to repair it. In 10 minutes is was as good as new.
A MAJOR ADDITIONAL PLUS.

Despite its qualities, I'd like to point out that I think it's a way too expensive pedometer (30$)for what it does ; it only counts the number of steps made over an undetermined period of time (it only has a reset button, as shown on the picture).
I found a pedometer at my local pharmacy (which is not a specialized seller for that kind of stuff) that is as musch accurate a the SW-200 Yamax Digiwalker and that also calculates distance traveled troughout the day (with your stride length). The one I found was half the price(15$) (made by "Sportline"). I was suprised by it's cheap price and it's accuracy.
I called the 1-800 number because I had a question. A person picked up and was very helpful.
And No, it isn't too expensive for what you get. Don't be a cheap skate.
directly over my knee and on my belt.
