The trailer is well made, zippers, canvas, netting, and all. I did remove the cushion at the bottom and replaced it with a gel mat, as Spunk's crazy hind legs would only scramble the pillow.
I only gave it four stars (instead of the five it deserves) because it came missing a couple of bolts. Fortunately, my boyfriend is resourceful and found bolts that worked. But the average person would have had to send for replacement parts. Also, that top bar really is VERY difficult to get into place. It took both of us several minutes to get it bolted in correctly (and we are pretty clever at building/assembling stuff). I had hoped the whole trailer would be collapsible and could transport flat in my car (and be assembled at the trail quickly), but there's no way I'm taking it apart ever again. The wheels come off and go on easily though so, that'll be good enough I guess.
Still, a great design. I got the medium, with the aluminum frame. It hooks up so easily once you install the hitch (which, again, took some ingenuity and wrangling because my quick-release bar was not long enough and I needed a new one that was just a half inch longer to allow for the width of the hitch). But once the hitch was on, the trailer was very easy to add.
I'd recommend getting your dog used to in gradually. It's a pretty smooth ride on a paved trail, but the bumps of a road or a curb edge can be a bit scary at first. I added my dog's bed to it for extra padding and that seemed to make her very happy.
I do wish there were bigger pockets though! The three it came with are ok but they aren't quite enough to bring along a water dish, the leash, poop bags, a bit of dog food, a water bottle, etc... (maybe I just need to travel lighter!).
I took my dog for a ride in it. He really enjoyed it for awhile, but he started complaining because it was hot outside.
By that time, I was 6 miles from home, and he was really frustrated.
It comes with a washable mat/pillow thing to pad the bottom, but it's not enough. Line it with a dog bed. That's probably
part of why my dog was complaining.
Assembly and setup were simple.
Wheels do not come pre-inflated, so hopefully you've got a pump.
I don't think it's very rain-proof, or even rain resilient, just giving it a lookover and observing the material.
The material is heavy and quality, but I'm just skeptical as to how it will stand up to rain.
Wind adds a LOT of resistance. I suggest having the front screen free so more air can pass through.
It was really fun. I tested the LARGE model for safety, jerking fast left and right to see if it might tip my 40-ish
pound fatty, Mr. Trip. It looked like a possibility, but I went pretty hard, and it did not tip much. The large model
is wide enough, with a low center of gravity.
Going straight down a very steep hill, no problems.
I coupled this with a jogger bike leash, so I can exercise him one way, and chauffeur him the other.
When wind was not heavy, it was not very noticeable unless going up a steep hill.
I had a few mishaps with it. Once your dog jumps in, the weight on your axel is going to knock your bike over.
Gotta prop it up somehow.
Or attach the trailer only after the dog is in so you can get a better hold of your bike.
The pockets are nice. Not a lot of use for them (yet).
This can double as a nice carrier for groceries or laundry.
I think I could fit my pit-hound mix in here with him if I had to/wanted to.
They'd be a bit over the weight limit between them.
There is a spot on each side for a lead to be clipped.
All in all, I am very happy so far. I will update once I've been using it a while.
