Cohen has a wonderful facility with language. He uses his superb journalistic skills to express ideas and insights at the level of a public intellectual. He pounces on the day's disquieting events while frequently explaining what happened by reference to the applicable scholarly literature and leading thinkers. Individually, his essays explore particular issues facing Israel and Jews and take a scalpel to various current manifestations of anti-Semitism and anti-Zionism. But read together, his essays have a collective impact. The reader comes away with a deep concern that so many in government, journalism and academia have fallen victim to hypocrisy, intellectual dishonesty and even animus. While Cohen's immediate focus is on Jews and Israel, the broader implications of Cohen's exposé are unmistakable.

This book is an excellent compilation of articles written by Ben Cohen for Commentary magazine on the recent resurgence of anti-semitism world-wide. Despite the sometimes taint of some anti-liberal writings there is an abundance of thoughtful articles in this compilation. This book should be required reading for those concerned about the persistence of this plague of hate and discrimination. My only real negative comment is about the book format itself. The digital version is only available in the kindle format.

This is a very well written and researched book, quite recent, regarding the history and current status of anti-semitism, around the world. It is not limited to one particular area of the world but really discusses its history, workings, causes, and promoters everywhere. It is not just about anti-Judaism but covers many aspects and areas of anti-semitism, of all types. These include: The UK, Jews and Israel; The Middle East and Israel in Context; BDS- anti-Zionism in Action; Antisemitism and anti-Judaism; The US and Israel; and finally, On Islamism and Iran. It really covers all the major areas and aspects of anti-semitism, as it has existed for the past hundred years, and up to the modern times, around the world. For the money, it is a real bargain and easy read but you should know some of its history, this is not a primer but a bit more advanced.

It is a very easy read, and does not just cover one particular topic/area, such as the Shoah but discusses how and why it is so widespread throughout history to the present day. I found it a very easy read and very illuminating and understandable. And, I would recommend it to anyone who already knows something about the topic but wants to learn much, much more. This book will let you do that, and in a reasonably short timeframe, too.

This collection is a particularly timely one coming as we are now seeing a global spike in Anti- Semitism. It begins by studying Anti- Semitism in Great Britain but it really covers what is now a global phenomenom. Cohen provides a wealth of information and analysis on the various forms the hatred of Jews and Israel is now taking. A strong proponent of Israel and the Jewish people his presentation is nonetheless, solid, critical , factually based, the kind of Journalism the world is getting too little of now.
I believe this is an important book for all those who care about the Jewish people and Israel- and too about the future of Humanity.

This is a collection of largely worthwhile journalistic essays by Cohen. As with any such collection, the essays will start to seem repetitive after a while. Regardless, the issues with which he deals are important ones and need to be in the public sphere. Cohen is an articulate and passionate advocate for the Jewish position against current moods of anti-Semitism. I particularly like the distinction he makes between "bier-kellen" anti-Semitism of the Nazis, in which they would boisterously bellow their contempt of Jews in the beer halls of the Reich, and contemporary "bistro" anti-Semitism, which is just as invidious as the former but more refined as it avoids the crudities of bellicose anti-Semitism, often hiding behind more acceptable terms like anti-Zionism.
