This book was not at all what I was expecting to read. Usually I always read the reviews on Amazon before downloading a book, but every once in awhile I'll just downloaded it because I like the title or cover. I know crazy, huh? Anyway, I'm a big psychological, horror, thriller type reader and this book was a llittle to "tame" for my taste. It's about a young boy who is kidnapped, and what the family has to go through to get him back. The thing is, I am not insensitive to a situation like this, however, once you start reading this I think you're going to say, "Come on, enough!" ,It was as if she was making things up as she went. I'm glad I'm finished!

Just ok, I'm not impressed !
It seems to drag on and it got ridiculous once the cops started negotiating with the kidnapper and the main character all of a sudden became an expert.... really ??
If you're on the fence about this book I won't bother !

Aubrey Lynd’s 6-year-old nephew goes missing from a carnival while under the
care of his grandmother, Diana (Aubrey’s mother).
When the FBI descends upon the Lynd family, there are lots of questions that
Aubrey cannot answer… especially questions about her parents.

A ransom note is received by Diana … but she chooses not to share it with the
FBI. The not issues an ultimatum with a deadline … only it’s not money ‘they’
want. It’s something a lot more personal.

As Aubrey digs into her parents’ background, she finds a lot of half-truths, all
out lies, and many, many secrets connected to a time 45 years in the past. They
were in college during the Vietnam War years. And they were both connected to a
radical protester’s group.

But if they are connected, why would someone wait this long to make the family
suffer? Why won’t her parents tell her about that time in history? What are
they hiding? And what do they know about the kidnapping of their grandson?

Book Blurb: Desperate to save her young nephew, Aubrey must face harsh truths
and choose between loyalty to her family and doing the right thing. And she’d
better hurry, because vengeance sets its own schedule, and time is running out.

This book really took me back to the 60s and the Vietnam War .. before, during
and after. I appreciate the author’s authenticity.
Not all the characters were likeable. Talk about a dysfunctional family!
Aubrey seems to be the only one who came out sort of normal. The boy’s parents
played a small part in the telling of this story, but it actually centers on
Diana and her ex-husband, Larry.

I wouldn’t call this a suspense, although it is a mystery.

I love when an author weaves a present story with the past as Sharon Potts has done here with Someone Must Die. The mystery of a missing boy is explored against the political protests of the 60's--a theme that has surprizing present day poignancy.
Right from the first chapter I was immersed in a world that had me turning pages untill way to late. I could not put this down.
This is well written and expertly plotted out story.
You will not be disappointed by picking up this suspensful mystery. Like Potts' other books it is one of my favorites.

This amazing concoction of layers of lies and half-truths will confuse and dismay you as you try to make sense of the rapidly changing dynamics in this thriller of a tale. What you initially believe changes so quickly it’s enough to give you whiplash–but you’ll keep reading thru to the end because I can promise you it’s worth it.

Ethan Lyons was a sweet six-year-old boy visiting his grandmother in Miami and they were spending the day out at a local carnival. They were playing and riding rides in the sun; even more important was the fact that this was the first time that Diane had been allowed to have Ethan with her. Family differences had caused a rift between her and her son Kevin, so it was a huge big deal that she’d been allowed to keep him. But no one knew the dark changes about to take place that would not only further destroy a family already broken but would pit the members against each other in a catastrophic race to uncover a monster from their hidden past.

This book was an amazing read because even though the web around the mystery was so complex, I was able to keep up with all the changes and even hazard a guess of my own. What made it powerful was the fact that even though I don’t really like stories that have flashbacks to the 60’s and 70’s, I didn’t really care about that because the underlying story of betrayal and carnage was so universal. There was so much heartbreak in every chapter, and even though it mainly centered on the parents (the grandmother Diane and her ex-husband Larry), you could feel the repercussions in the children of that marriage, Kevin (the missing child’s father) and Audrey, who had come to help find her nephew.
