I can easily say that I love Shepley and America together just as much as I loved Travis and Abby. Even though this is a fictional story, Jamie writes it in such a way that you feel like you are right there in the story with them. Shepley and America have struggles throughout the story that many people can understand and relate to.
Talk about action! I was sucked into their story immediately and couldn’t put the book down. I wasn’t sure where Jamie was going to go with their story, and she definitely kept me on the edge of my seat. Jamie knows how to write action and suspense into any story. This one had an especially interesting “twist” to it.
Shepley and America get 5 shooting stars!
“Sometimes, good-bye is a second chance. Clears your head. Anyway…missing someone makes you remember why you loved that person in the first place.”
As much as I love the other heroines of the series, I’ve always held a special place for America. She’s been this fierce little firecracker since the moment we were introduced to her, and that trait has never wavered. We see a whole lot of that in Something Beautiful, but we also see a little bit of a vulnerable side to her. It showed readers that she was human with insecurities and made her more real in my eyes. I’m also now pretty much sold on the fact that Shepley doesn’t get enough credit as a book boyfriend! I freaking fell in love with him in this novella! He was tenacious, vulnerable, strong-willed, and simply put, a Maddox through and through.
“I never stay lost for long. I can always find my way back to you.”
I think what set Something Beautiful apart from the other novels in the series is that America and Shepley weren’t trying to kindle a relationship. They were fighting so hard to maintain a love they both knew in their hearts was there. Despite issues arising, miscommunication, and even a lack of conversation at times, neither wanted to give up hope. That message is so strongly appropriate in a world where we are so quick to throw away what means the most to us when it gets hard.Read more ›
As a die hard Beautfiul Disaster fan I highly recommend this novella to you, but be sure you read the other books in the Maddox Brothers series first, because you'll just spoil yourself with reading this novella. And trust me when I say you won't miss any Maddox Brothers book.
I always though of America and Shepley as the perfect couple and the one that was going to stay strong even when everything else was going to crumble down. In Something beautiful the struggle as they face some demons each one on his own and try to see how their lives will go on. Both of them want the same thing, but they just can't seem to get it. During the whole novel I kept seeing how strongly they loved each other and I was wondering why they were doubting that love.
The little angst and everything else, made me realize what I miss in a book. It has been a while since I felt something while reading a book. I came to that conclusion when I was reading the book because I realized that I hadn't felt this way reading a book for more time than I can remember.
The whole novella could have been characterized as over dramatic and that some things were over the top, but it doesn't feel this way. I am not going to complain about the awful reminder of Travis's conquests or about the spoilers I read about the Maddox brother. After reading this novella I just can't say a bad thing about it.
I must admit that I cried a little in the end. The ending couldn't have been more perfect.Read more ›

It was ok. Too short to be good. Boring start but picked up as the story progressed. A tad predictable. But my emotions were stirred during the main event. Read morePublished 22 days ago by Jax Mom
