From the Author
The author would like to thank all her readers for their loyalty, patience, and kind words. The two questions new readers always ask are, "Will there be more Hetheridge--'Blue'--books?" and "What else have you written?"
Regarding question one, will there be more Lord & Lady Hetheridge ("Blue") books, the answer is yes. When asked when she plans to end the series, she replied, "Never." She is already at work on book #5, Blue Blooded.
Regarding question two, what else has she written, please try the Dr. Benjamin Bones cozy mystery series. Set in wartime England beginning in September 1939, this nostalgic, romantic series follows the amateur sleuthing of Dr. Bones, a native Londoner, in his adopted Cornish village, Birdswing. Book #1, Marriage Can Be Murder, and book #2, Divorce Can Be Deadly, are available now. Also available is Dr. Bones and the Christmas Wish, a charming novella about love lost and love found.

Having so much enjoyed installment #1, I bought and read installments #2 and #3 straight away.
It is probably a challenge for an author when a reader goes through several books of a series in one go - if only because it is not easy summarising the characters' past for those readers who did not start at the beginning without boring those who did.
In the biography author Emma Jameson placed on her Amazon webpage, she says that her agent made her rewrite installment #1 four times before he was satisfied with it, and that she kept books 1 and 2 in her drawers for a couple of years before she eventually self-published them. This definitely paid off: the reader can feel that a lot of care and attention was brought into the first two installments. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for book #3. Is it the ransom of success? Pressure to publish rapidly? If so, it is a real pity.
So, why is book 3 rather less enjoyable? The storyline is rushed and muddled, with no proper closure of the mystery part, except for a few rushed paragraphs at the end. The characters, who were previously so well defined and lively, turn into 1-dimensional, rather irritating clichés that are much less likable than before. The writing is less polished. The continuous reference to events in previous books is tedious. This is a pity, as Emma Jameson has great potential as an author. So my request to you, Emma, is : please, please, do not waste your very good ideas in a rush, take your time to shape both storyline and characters development, and don't feel you have to publish in a hurry. We can wait :-)
I like cozy mysteries. But sometimes they 're a wee bit tame. On the other hand, modern police procedural/ mysteries are either too gory or too sexually explicit for my taste . I wind up skimming through a third of the book. I have often wished for that perfect compromise: a solid mystery, decent technology, a believable romance, complex characters, and really skillful writing.
I wanted J.D.Robb with the volume turned down on the sex and violence. I wanted Agatha Christie brought forward 80-90 years, with more romance. I wanted Georgette Heyer's mysteries but a bit steamier.
Emma Jameson delivers all that and more. Modern police story with mystery and romance, the torrid bits just offstage but suggested or remembered, and characters as real and fascinating as Roarke and Dallas/McNab and Peabody. ( from J. D. Robb's In Death series ). Complex, modern detecting with enough real-life snags to make it really interesting.
If you didn't run out and get the first two, do it NOW..... Because the wedding was absolutely perfect for the characters and the situation. I figured there was a plan B about halfway through, but didn't have it all worked out . It was perfect.
Now that you have books one and two--you did go buy them, didn't you?-- buy this one immediately. You will want to take a weekend and read all three back to back!
