If you love Mythology or are new to it this is a fantastic book for you!
Syrus is keeping watch over a seedy neighborhood when he comes up on some Div's following two women that had just left a club. The knight in shining armor that he is does his duties to protect and in turn meets a woman that he feels a deep connection with right off the bat.
Gwen is your run of the mill Librarian that doesn't see herself as beautiful or deserving of a good man. In a relationship she has just settled for even though her best friend tells her she deserves more. While out with her best friend Ansley she has a run in with two men and is saved by a gorgeous man that doesn't take no for an answer when getting home safely. Little does she know that this man, Syrus, finds her very attractive and is willing to do anything to keep her safe.
Gwen is having to redefine herself, find how she fits into the new world she is thrust in and trust people whom she hardly knows.
I had an immediate connection with Gwen and Syrus. How Gwen settles for what she has instead of going after what she wants and how Syrus is lonely and hopes to find the one person he is meant to be with. It really helped me to see great things can happen when you least expect it. I love how the two main characters Syrus and Gwen's relationship grows and that two people that were both in lonely situations find happiness against the odds. I can not wait for book in this series to be available and I highly recommend getting a copy!!
Syrus begins his night in Alphabet City, NYC covering his teammate's shift when he feels the power of the girl he's been searching for since becoming a member of the Inferi Dii. He saves the two humans and takes them home, but his senses alert him to danger. When Gwen's boyfriend is eaten by monsters, she isn't sure who to trust, but Syrus convinces her to follow his lead. Now, she's drawn into a world where gods are real, but the monsters are, too.
If you've been waiting for some of the lesser known deities to be re-imagined, this series is definitely for you!
Something Darker is the debut book of a new series, each featuring a guardian of an Egyptian Goddess. These men are soldiers of the world, and they were given great but ancient power in return for their allegiance to their mistress. They have become dark gods of the Egyptian Pantheon and they are the last line of defense against demon warriors known as the Veln.
They each have their powers bound by a relic and they need to find the Keeper to get it and to fight to protect the world from darkness. The Inferi Dii is the last defense against the darkness. The woman also known as the Keeper, is also their salvation.
Syrus found his keeper but without his relic, he couldn't do anything with the information. Syrus is a battle hardened warrior, and as hell. His future match is Gwen, and although she seems shy at first, she quickly warms up to him and learns she can trust him with her heart and her safety. When Gwen witnesses some of the demons kill her boyfriend, she nearly goes into shock. Syrus realizes she has the relic and he must save her.
There's a lot I don't giveaway if you haven't read the book but it is definitely worth checking out if you are a fantasy or paranormal reader. The story is action packed and gets more interesting the further into the book you get. The main characters story was very interesting, but the secondary characters were also well developed and had stories to tell, and hot sex to sell. :)
This is a classic good versus evil battle that men or women can both enjoy.
I am hooked, and now really looking forward to reading the rest of this series.
