Lundy, along with K. Blackmore and D.J. Molles are my favorite authors in the genre. J. Cook and J. Baker are also good authors. It's good for us that Lundy hasn't gone into the professional ranks like Molles and started releasing novellas at premium prices to tease us along.
The military protocols and techniques are presented authentically by the author who is active duty military. It adds a unique dimension to the story and illicits pride and confidence in the ability of the military to courageously defend this nation. While many people try to violate the dignity of the survivors for their own immoral benefits, good prevails over evil. I love dysopian stories for their reinforcement of hope for mankind during our darkest hours
Luckily, the ad hoc unit of SEALS, Army, Marines, Navy, and some British allies, meet up with the Soldier and help keep the girl safe on the road and to finally get them both to safety. Unfortunately, heros fall along the way and the Soldier is seriously wounded in an act of betrayal before reaching the Ranger unit and safety.
