About the Author

James Tynion IV is a comic book writer, best known for his work on the Batman franchise for DC Comics. James' comics career began with co-writing the back-up stories on Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo's character defining run on BATMAN, which would lead to his making his own name on a number of Bat-Centric series. This work would culminate in James serving as the showrunner of two consecutive weekly comic series, BATMAN ETERNAL and BATMAN & ROBIN ETERNAL. Recently, he has become the writer of the massive cross-over project, BATMAN/TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES, bringing two of the most successful franchises together for the first time. The first issue was one of the best selling comic issues of 2015.

The Young Adult Science Fiction epic THE WOODS broke all records for original series at the company when it was released in 2014, and has recently been optioned for television by Universal Cable Productions. He has also penned the critical successes MEMETIC, COGNETIC and UFOLOGY for the publisher. James has also recently stepped into the shoes of one of the most iconic anti-heroes in the comics medium with the critically acclaimed relaunch of CONSTANTINE: THE HELLBLAZER with Ming Doyle and Riley Rossmo.

An alumni of Sarah Lawrence College, Tynion now lives and works in Los Angeles, CA.

Loved the 1st volume and the 2nd opens up some situations and people that can go in a number of ways and it's definitely got my interest and I'm excited to see where they go with the series now, and how much will be explained. If they'll go into back stories eventually or what but I really enjoy the story and the few characters so far. And the artwork is different but it looks good and again can't wait to see where it goes and excited about continuing to read.

This second volume expands on the characters, monsters, and the secret society, giving the reader more insight into the very cool mythology that author James Tynion has created. As before, the art fits nicely with the dark and atmospheric story and includes plenty of alternate covers at the end of the book. This volume collects issues 5 - 10 of the massively popular adult series from Boom Studios. I very much look forward to reading volume 3. Due to the nature of the deaths of young kids, I don't expect this to be adapted to a television series anytime soon, but kudos to Tynion for bravely forging his own path and not curbing his sometimes brutal material.
