From the Author
After I'm done at the gym, I head to my apartment. There's nothing better after a long run than stretching. I set my playlist, the yoga app, and begin to follow along.
"Concentrate on your Pranayama breathing." Yeah, you concentrate on that while trying to hold this pose. Five years and I can't do a handstand pose without losing my balance.
Still, like I always do, I try my best and continue with the flow.
"Downward facing dog," says the instructor.
"F**, that's my limit. You can't do that," I hear a very annoying male voice.
"Excuse me?" I ask, straightening up and walking toward Miller's balcony, who is almost jumping the short wall that divides our balconies. "I can do whatever I want."
"Yeah, but not here. I am trying to relax after a long day and what do I see? Your sweet, round ass pointing at me. Tempting me."
He's got to be kidding me.
"You're unbelievable," I try to keep my tone low, but this man is just pushing my limits, and it's only my second day back in town.
"Honest," he corrects me. "I'm nothing but honest."
"Seriously?"
"Shall we replay what just happened here?" he asks and proceeds to recount his version of the events.
"I came outside to relax, read a book, and drink." He lifts a tumbler containing some amber liquid. "Suddenly, you come outside disturbing the peace by blaring Enya and that squeaky woman ordering you to breathe while keeping your butt down and your tummy tucked in close to your spine. I didn't say anything but, Clarice, you are flaunting that sweet ass I love, and I have my limits."
I hate he's using that soft-low tone that turns me on.
But I hate it more that the view has my fingers itching to touch him. He's only wearing a pair of jeans, and I can't help but stare at his bare, muscular torso. Rock-hard abs, just like I remember them. His corded arms have a few new tattoos, and what do you know, my body is reacting to his perfect body.
The craving disappears when I remember he's the enemy and he's taken.
"Does your girlfriend know you stalk me?"
The corner of his lip stretches, and he crosses his arms."My girlfriend?"
"Danielle mentioned you have one."
He nods. "I'm pretty sure this girlfriend you're talking about wouldn't mind if I'm watching you."
"Well, I mind that you're stalking me," I grunt, he makes no sense. "Can you just leave me alone?"
"You came to me," he says. "I've lived here for more than a year. Also, this is a free country. You're the one who, as I explained earlier, disturbed my peaceful night. I'm in my apartment, minding my own business. Suddenly, you're flaunting that gorgeous body, blocking my view and--distracting me."
And now, I'm the one distracted by him and those sexy bedroom eyes. Just one night. If we could do it for one last time, the craving will go away. I lick my lips, and his smug smile reminds me why we shouldn't be together.
"I didn't come to you," I argue.
