Rarely does a story of this length inspire me to read it all in one day. This one did.I’ll admit I’m a sucker for a good hospital story, but this one was something special. It pulled at my heartstrings in every way that I love. The more I read, the more I wanted to know, and the more I found myself vested in the characters.

Dylan and Landon are the victims of a vicious attack. While Dylan’s injuries allow him to depart hospital fairly soon, Landon’s injuries leave him fighting for his life, and if he survives, in need of extensive rehab.

Throughout the novel, the story regularly delves into the memories and emotions experienced by victims, friends, and family. The reminiscences connect us to Dylan and Landon pre-attack. Good times, funny and sweet times are recalled, and the small things that make a relationship special are identified.

In the face of traumatic circumstances, a myriad of emotions are on display; mainly love, but also, guilt, anger, introspection, hurt, life re-evaluation, and acceptance of circumstance. However, acceptance doesn’t mean beaten, purely a change of direction. I know I’ve already mentioned love, but yeah, the love will leave your heart bursting.

The journey travelled in this novel shows the stresses, support, complications, highs and lows of surviving head injury. Dylan and Landon are totally loveable. In fact, there wasn’t a character in the novel that I didn’t like. Not everyone wore a halo. There was a good blend of personalities with varying temperaments that helped give the book excellent depth, as well as a substantial knowledge of the subject matter.

The story doesn’t close all the doors on the events. Instead, it cleverly poses questions after the epilogue that make you think.

This was a wonderful story. This book was well written and well edited. I would not be surprised if Burton has had writing experience in other fora. I loved the guys. I loved their relationship. I loved all the supporting characters, who are all well drawn.

Imagine the most important person in your life is attacked and left for dead right in front of you. When that happens to Landon and Dylan, it's just the beginning of a gripping story about love and recovery.

This book draws you in with the first word and doesn't let go until the last. My heart was in my throat and my thoughts were instantly with Dylan as he waited in the hospital to hear whether his fiancé, Landon, would survive a brutal head injury. Dylan's shock, grief, and guilt were raw and very real, as was his relief upon learning that Landon would live, but would never be the same.

I've never seen a recovery story handled with such detail and care. There are no easy answers and the healing is a slow process. If you've ever known someone in a similar situation, each small step rings true. I found myself celebrating over the smallest things (Boat! He remembered boats!) and just wanting to hug these boys when things got overwhelming. Healing is a difficult road to walk but celebrating each step with Landon kept me fully engaged in his journey from start to finish.

This story is about love in every form. These young men love each other deeply and we get sweet glimpses of how their relationship grew, juxtaposed with what their present trauma means for their relationship now. We also feel the support and love of their families and friends. When tragedy strikes, support is one of the most important things someone can offer. When I felt lost with Dylan, I felt comforted by his mother's guidance. When I felt helpless with Landon, I found strength with his sister's caring. This story immerses you so deeply, it is easy to give yourself over to its powerful storytelling.

Becca does an amazing job of intertwining humor and heartache.

Becca Burton has written a love story that shows in minute detail the courage and endurance victims and their loved ones face in the aftermath of a traumatic brain injury. The physical and emotional pain is a road strewn with expected and difficult challenges.
This engrossing story brings to light the ever changing daily fight to find a way to heal and to find your way back. Maybe not as you were, but to a place still filled with love and devotion.
This is an amazing first novel from a very talented author. I highly recommend this author and her beautiful story.

OMFG, Becca Burton you slayed me with this book. I was a broken sobbing mess while reading it and actually felt I was invested deeply in the outcome. Anyone who has suffered with an injury or the loss of a loved one, can relate and in my case relive those desperate and lonely hours spent sitting in a solitary hospital chair with their emotions hanging by a thread.

There are not enough words to describe how I think you are one of the most amazing writers I have read lately. You take the reader on a journey and I for one felt all the highs and lows.

Without any hesitations I recommend this brilliant book, Ms Burton you have a new admirer, now get typing as I am desperately waiting for your next.
