Lifts off right where the last one ended, so it's helpful to read or re-read before starting this one. It ends in a cliffhanger.
Quinn and Mia are on the run from the police, Hank and her dad. They travel across the country attempting to hide in plain sight but not doing a very good job of it and running into an old high school friend.... and this is where I started to not like this part. It was so obvious that Justin was not who he says he is that it's ridiculous...and that those losers can find her all the way across the country seemed odd... and unrealistic.
Q and M are steadily building their relationship and while Q's attitude is noble, I found him a little too alpha male for my taste. Am curious about her Mom though and how they can get saved and stay together, so will read book 3!
Told from first person point of view (Mia) the premise follows Mia and Quinn on the run from the law and from the man who wants to destroy her life. Suspected in not one but two murders in Quinn’s hometown, Mia and Quinn struggle to remain in control on the road. Mia continues to keep Quinn at arm’s length hoping to protect him from the horrors of her life but her continuous need to push Quinn away is aggravating and infuriating; at times almost impossible to accept especially when her need to run from Quinn, and her jealous behavior, places both of them in danger time and again. Mia does not want to depend on anyone and she is fast becoming dependent on the man by her side.
We follow Quinn and Mia as they make their way across country heading to Canada in search of Mia’s mother; from seedy bars to even seedier motels, beautiful scenery and busy cities, our couple battle one another while on the run, hoping someone will prove their innocence back home. Quinn’s dark secret and even darker past continues to build a wall between our couple when Quinn refuses to talk.
While on the road, the relationship between Quinn and Mia continues to build. There are moments of pure happiness followed by painful memories and the realization that they are on the run. Mia and Quinn will cross paths with a former friend and in this their life on the road will never be the same.Read more ›
What I got was, I don't deserve you, no, I don't deserve you ... repeat, repeat. I will not let you take the fall for me, you have no choice, I will kill for you, I will die for you. Let's run, no lets fight, let's run, let's fight.
It wasn't all bad. I liked the 3rd party twist, I like some of the dialog, but it was slow. who leaves Virginia headed to Canada and detours through Louisiana????
Something Like Redemption picks up right from the point where Something Like Normal ended. Mia’s past makes an appearance placing both her and Quinn on the run, hopping from one place to the next. With Mia’s past always one step behind her and the police also on their tail, Mia and Quinn have to determine who they can trust as well as learning how to trust each other.
For all you action seekers who loved the thrills of the first book do not get disappointed as this book though it has its thrilling moments is not heavily focused on the action. This book is all about Mia and Quinn’s relationship with each other. Their fears, their heartache, their past and the decisions that will impact their future.
I loved this story. I love the strength and passion of Mia and Quinn. Mia is headstrong and determined to ensure that the people she loves don’t get hurt so much so that she is willing to do everything in her power to push them away. But there is a problem with her plan because Quinn is also stubborn and determined to stay right by her side no matter the cost. Mia has never had anyone care for her like Quinn, never had the safety of someone’s arms around her or the peace that comes with Quinn’s presence. It’s new to her, scary, frustrating, heartbreaking and simply amazing. In Something Like Redemption we see Mia embrace this new part of her life that is Quinn.Read more ›
