SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH JANET is the fascinating true memoir about one boy’s experiences growing up with a manic/depressive mother, and the impact his mother’s mental illness had on his life.
I read this book in one sitting. Though the story is short, I found it to at once be absorbing, revealing and illuminating. Well-written, the story flows smoothly from the author’s early memories of being 4 years old to the present. I felt like an observer watching a young child, then a young man and finally an adult as he navigated through a bumpy, often bewildering, sometimes chaotic, yet somehow close-knit, if secretive family life, eventually coming to terms with his past to become the person he is today.
I recommend SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH JANET to all, and especially to anyone who has, or is struggling with life with a mentally ill family member or friend.
