Gabriela is a young woman whose wounds run deep. They've matured her beyond her years. Fearful yet determined to find a place where she can begin again, Gabriela ends up in Jasper Ridge, Idaho where she meets Heath Cahill. He's everything a romance hero should be, older, gorgeous, rich and tortured by his own tragic past. He wants nothing to do with her or any woman but from their first encounter, he recognizes a kindred wounded soul. Their relationship is of the semi-insta-love variety, but it worked for me. The sex is hot and frequent, always a good thing in my opinion. The story arc provides plenty of angsty moments, tears, fears, and a huge obstacle that might doom their relationship. The resolution ties things up nicely, resulting in the satisfying HEA I had been looking forward to.
Susan Fanetti has given Jasper Ridge it's own personality, with a multitude of interesting characters, relationships and small-town life I'm dying to read more about in future Sawtooth Mountain novels.
i was intrigued. She states she didn't feel good writing it under a surname, pulled it, let it sit, then deciding to publish under her own name. Reading this I could sense that Susan was nervous about releasing this novel. WHY? i just finished this book, and yes it's not your typical Susan Fanetti book (which kinda made me forget it was her a bit, but not really) but it is still amazing. Susan has a way in her writing that literally takes you out of your own head, and places you in hers.
These Characters have been through Hell, LITERALLY, but fate, and yes i believe in fate, brought them together. The love story of Heath & Gabe is heart wrenching, yet beautiful. I can say to anyone READ THIS BOOK! and then throw them into any of Susan's other beautifully written novels.
It took me a little bit longer to really fall in love with the secondary characters in this one, because the focus was on the main couple for a lot of the book (as it should be), but by the end I was definitely hooked and can't wait for more of this series! Overall, it was a good story and I enjoyed it!!
Of Note- the authors note at the beginning states that she guarantees an iron clad HEA for all characters throughout for this series.
