By Debra Cloptlon
Somewhere with You is book two of Windswept Bay series by Debra Clopton. I absolutely love this series. The author captured me right at the start and did not let go till the end. Clopton has written a page turner in Somewhere With You , I could not read fast enough to see what was going to happen next. You will meet back up with some of the characters from book one. This is Shar and Gage’s story. Shar’s passion is rescuing sea turtles and Gage is a self made millionaire who has just lost his father. Shar does not want any relationship that would take her away from Windswept Bay and her turtles. She loves her life working at the resort with her sisters , but sometimes she wishes for something that her sister has . Gage just buried his father and has now escaped to Windswept Bay to get away from everything. He does not want to end up like his father. Gage meets beautiful Shar on the beach saving a large sea turtle that is in bad shape and she needs help. Neither one can get the other one out of their minds. Gage will be leaving in a few weeks and where will that leave Shar? Sparks are flying between these two, but what can they do? Gage knows what he wants , but Shar is afraid.
I was given a copy of this book by the author for my honest review.
Sassy, opinionated Shar Sinclair is content with her life as it is, she doesn't need a man in her life to make her happy. She loves working and volunteering at the Turtle rescue mission. It's a passion of hers that knows no bounds. That is until she runs into Gage Landcaster coming out of the water looking like some greek God, a man she can't seem to get out of her mind, even days after their first meeting.
Shar never plans to leave the island or her life of saving turtles behind; and he's a multi-millionaire from New York. The question here is: they live completely different lives and live thousands of miles apart, so how can they ever expect to find a middle ground, and make a relationship between them work?
I loved everything about this story, but it was the lead in to the next story that really grabbed my attention, and had me sitting on the edge of my seat. I'm also very curious about what's going on with their sister, Olivia.
Gage Lancaster has spent his life following in his father's footsteps - working and placing all his attention on the business. However, the sudden death of his father is making him reevaluate what's important in his life. He can't just continue as if nothing has happened. So, he abandons an important meeting and escapes to Windswept Bay where he can relax and figure out what to do next. So, when he sees Shar Sinclair desperately working to save a sea turtle, he begins to realize that there are more important things in the world besides business meetings. He also realizes that he wants to get to know this woman who displays such passion for a worthy cause.
Shar Sinclair wants nothing to do with relationships. She's focused on saving endangered sea turtles and is convinced that a man in her life would pull her away from her life goals. However, why is she so amazed when a stranger rushes up to help her save an injured turtle? And, why does she keep thinking about him? What's wrong with her?
As they get to know each other, Gage is convinced that she's the one for him. Yet, Shar wonders how he can honestly love her? Surely, she's simply a distraction from his grief and a means of escape from the stress of work! Can Gage convince her that his love is real?
I enjoyed this story on many levels. I liked the life lesson that someone can pursue a personal passion such as saving endangered species and also have romantic relationships and love in their life. Not every relationship interferes and it won't if it's truly a loving relationship. Also, Gage is a great leading male character. He's strong and an imposing force in business, yet he's learning that he can step away and have a personal life as well. I really felt the emotions that he must be dealing with after the loss of his father. I also enjoyed the continued back story of Cali and Grant.
All in all, I feel that this story is better than Book 1 and I'm eager for what's next so that I can continue getting to know all these characters - even if they move to the background.
Romance - PG - some kisses
Language - clean
My rating - 5 stars.
