Top Customer Reviews
I was at RacksAndStands(dotcom) and found one in their "Sale" section under the brand "dCor". Came to Amazon and couldn't find it by name. Checked actual item number (E-0062-BF) and low and behold here it is! They offered it for 199 + free shipping but it would take a few extra days so I ordered it via Amazon for same price with free 2-day Prime shipping. It arrived in a Sonax box so I'm assuming Sonax is the actual brand, perhaps dCor is a sister company.
Sonax did an outstanding job packaging this stand, everything was tight, secure and protected. I open the box today to put her together and - what's this? Metal hardware?! Nice! I took my time putting it together and this thing is attractive and functional. Very solid especially considering the particle boards. The smoked glass goes well with the black "grain" and it helps hide unused components. Predrilled holes were right on the mark. Extremely easy putting this together.
We've got the cable box, audio receiver, xbox 360 and playstation 3 in there leaving two more nooks for the peripherals for the two systems. Outstanding item.
Knowing ahead of time this was particle board I rate this a five out of five. The only thing I'd improve on is using actual wood. If the need arises in the future I can just purchase wood and build a similar/matching one using the same hardware and glass doors. Considering similar functioning tv stands are closer to the $500+ price range I really did get a lot for the price. If you want a solid bench to hide multiple components that won't break the bank and still looks attractive, this is one worth your consideration.
~Photos added showing measurements and backing cutouts, as requested.
~I'd like to add to my review is that the three shelves are not affixed: they can slide forward or all the way back which I found useful for my deep receiver and incoming cables.
~Remotes and controllers for Xbox 360, PS3, and Time Warner digital cable box work perfectly through the tinted glass doors.
In terms of the quality, its relatively high quality material with MDF (Medium Density Fibre) being used for most of the parts. Although, the corners/edges can easily be chipped or scratch, so be careful while assembling and not hit anything by accident.
Assembling the TV was pretty straight forward, just be sure to follow instruction and thoroughly look at all the pictures/figures in the instructions. There a few times, where I had drilled a piece backwards, due to not looking at the picture for reference. So take your time and be thorough. I had to make holes in the back for the 3 lower compartment, since I have my Power Surge on the lower shelf and needed to run electrical cords. With the backing of the tv stand thin sheet of particle wood, it was fairly easily to drill a hole big enough to support cords.
Overall, this a nice TV stand at a competitive price. Its not going to be the BEST quality but the appearance is neutral and gets the job done. I would recommend it.
Assembling Time: 1.5 Hours
My only complaint, like many others, is that I had to make a hole in the backing for which to string all the cables from my receiver. Not a big deal for most, but worth noting.
Once you drag it into your building area, it looks like it's going to be a nightmare to put together, but it's actually fairly easy.
You will need a Philips head screw driver and small hammer. I didn't have a hammer, I used the handle of an even bigger screwdriver like a troglodyte.
It's packaged very well, mine had no damage and wasn't missing any parts. I probably put the whole thing together in 20-30 minutes with taking a few breaks to get a drink and answer the phone and such.
I did make one mistake, when putting on the magnetic latches for the doors I used the wrong sized screw on one of them which punched through the top a little. It was totally my fault for not reading the parts description carefully.
I purchased this unit for a VIZIO E550i-B2 55-Inch 1080p 120Hz Smart LED HDTV and it fits it like a glove. On the shelves I have a Blu ray player on the left, HD Cable box in the top center, and a laptop on the top right. Leaves just enough room for an XBOX One.
I've seen some reviews that say there's no holes for cords. Actually, if you put the back on correctly, it should be flush with the bottom of the unit, leaving room at the top for your cords to go out of the back. Or you could do the opposite and put the back on flush with the top, and leave room for cords to go out of the bottom.
I like this unit a lot. Highly recommended.
