I am so pleased to be able to say that this book was enjoyable from start to finish, without the patchiness that spoiled TRB for me. The early scenes in Ireland ring true, introducing us to our heroine Tara as a child. Her journey to America, and her struggle for success and love, is engaging throughout, with enough research to round out the story nicely. I genuinely liked Tara, and her true love Reece is a wonderful hero, easy to love.
The only weak point is the villain, Muldoon, who is believable enough at first but becomes one of those "evil for the sake of being evil" caricatures. But even that was not enough to stop me from enjoying the story.
This is an enjoyable, light read with an appealing romance - a book that manages to be exactly what the author meant it to be. Shana McGuinn is a writer to watch, one who grows and gets better the more she writes. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who wants to read a good historical romance.
