Ok. On the surface Gigi and Jason couldn't be more different. She's a city woman and he's a small town guy. One thing they do have in common is their immediate attraction to one another. Gigi is an aspiring Broadway star with a lithe dancer's body and lots of confidence. Jason is model handsome (in fact he does model) but a quiet singer/songwriter with paralyzing stage fright.
When they get to know each during the course of Gigi's six week stay organizing a small town musical revue, they realize their similarities outnumber their differences as they fall in love. But the road to happiness isn't without obstacles for these two.
What will happen at the end of six weeks? Will the lovers try to make it work in Willow Springs or New York City? Will one of them have to sacrifice his/her happiness for the other?
No spoilers! You'll have to read for yourself how author Imbalzano solves this quandary in a beautifully steamy tale of lovers who understand and support each others goals and dreams and bring out the best in each other.
I read this book in one night. I just could not put it down (and go to sleep) because I had to find out what would happen next. It’s a wonderful story of finding love and finding oneself. I love (and miss during the pandemic) visiting NY for Broadway, dinner, museums, night life, shopping and, of course, Christmas time. The hustle and bustle are exhilarating. I also enjoy visiting my husband’s relatives who live in the country where everything is relaxed and everyone is so friendly and kind. I really appreciate both life styles and I thought the author captured both Gigi and Jason’s points of view so well. And even though they came from different backgrounds, they had very similar values.
This book has just enough of everything to make a great romance story. It is well written and the characters are well developed. The big show at the playhouse is a perfect setting to get the whole town involved and give the reader of glimpse of other interesting characters. And the Deerbourn Inn sounds like a place I’d love to stay. I enjoyed reading it and highly recommend it.
There were a lot of reasons why I loved this story, too.
One of the main characters Jason lives in a small town, writes his own songs, and plays the guitar in the local bar/restaurant. But he has big dreams. Jason has talent and determination, but in order for him to make the big stage, he must overcome a seeming impossible obstacle. I like to read stories about singer/songwriters and their struggles and successes. Jason’s journey seemed very realistic to me.
Gigi, the other main character, arrives in this small town for six weeks, hoping to gain some experience which she can take back with her when she returns to New York, hopefully with a part in a Broadway production. It was fun reading how Gigi, used to big city living, deals with small town life. She has to get used to almost everything being slightly different. The
experience is not turning out as she planned it in her mind.
That’s what makes this story such a fun read. When Gigi and Jason meet, they clash, but they also look for ways to help each other as they slowly fall in love.
I highly recommend A Song For Another Day.
