You will sense the love of Sahel while enjoying the benefit of art, photography and poetry. I am extremely proud of this project that will give aid to Sahel.
I can say confidently you will enjoy this anthology again and again.
How does one make grace & art from the abject desperation of a barren landscape ? This is how ....
I am very proud of the Anthology, Song of Sahel. I have donated a poem to this collection but I am not writing this review for that reason. Let me tell you what I know. Behind the scenes, this Anthology was inspired by the desperateness of the conditions in Sahel, in Western Africa, of the children who are starving and the land which is dying. Putting this project together took a call out to artists and writers who donated their work for the Anthology. The result is the most poignant collection of paintings, photography, poems and music. The 16 pieces of music are available through links contained in the book. The sounds are magnificent. The photography will move you. You will see the faces of the proud people of Sahel; you will look into the eyes of such divine children who want only what any person would, the chance to live a long and full life. They want to enjoying what other children would find to be fun, like playing. They don't have that. They can barely find the energy to survive.
The Anthology, Song of Sahel, is a grand artistic representation of what is happening in the region. The poems are moving and profound. The poets write of what they know of Sahel and convey in their own words how they experience the depth of despair the people feel. The poetry is sensitive, inspired and touches your soul and shows the poets' hearts shining through. Dr. Niamh Clune, the artist and publisher who spearheaded this endeavor, spent five months using her knowledge and ability organizing and creating the Anthology. I have added it to my collection not only to help fund Song of Sahel but to be reminded that there are people in the world who are barely surviving from hour to hour.Read more ›
