I'm happy with purchase. I wish the feeder decanter was copper as opposed to plastic, mostly to help keep the water clean (esp. at this time of year when I'm not frequently changing it). My solution was to place my summer copper feeder bowl on top. Except for when temps. went close to 0 degrees F, did the water freeze--as there is only plastic to copper content in the middle.

Note to manufacturer, I would have paid more if you gave me a choice of copper container.

I asked for this for Christmas. I LOVE IT! attached easily to deck, looks great, birds, squirrels and other critters use it, even the dog jumps up for a drink. Keeps ice off, I knew it would have to be filled every morning but I don't mind. On warm days when the heating element doesn't kick on I fill it every two days or so.

It looks great. It works great. At least as far as keeping the water from freezing. This year we were having a Maine winter more wicked than usual. I knew there was no open water anywhere closer than a few miles. I was worried all the many chickadees, nuthatches, woodpeckers and even redpolls at the feeder every day didn't have a good supply of water. I purchased this heated bath and placed it on the deck about 10 feet from the feeder. This was early Feb and there were a number of nights below zero and the temp never got above freezing during the day the whole month. I saw a grand total of one bird (one I don't particularly like to see, a blue jay) on the bath during that time. I have to assume either birds needing a source of open water (there was plenty of snow on the ground) in the winter is a myth, or there is something about this product they didn't like.
