Inspiring. I'd never heard of this composer before, but will be looking for other recordings of his music - hopefully done as well as here!

To answer the last reviewer, who asked for music in this vein - check out a few that occur to me:
* "New World Symphonies: Baroque Music from Latin America"
* "Greenfire: A Celtic String Ensemble" (available on BMG)
* Noirin Ni Riain, who sings ancient celtic songs
* parts of Bach's "B minor Mass"
* Motets and Anthems by Wm. Byrd.
Those works aren't from the same era as Coincy, but seem "similar in feeling", IMO.

I don't have the following album yet, but it gets rave reviews on Amazon:
"Gautier de Coincy: Miracles of Notre Dame"

This group should perform some of Hildegard's works. They might be able to bring out qualities in her works, that others have missed.

I heard 2 cuts on WNYC- NPR last week which were so divine that I had to have it! This is right where I live, regarding early music. If anyone enjoys this as much as me, could you suggest other titles that I could collect in this vein?

My all time favorite medieval cd, and I own and have listened to quite a few. The musical arrangement, the quality of the choir, the ecstatic beauty of the music is unparalleled - and I challenge anyone to name a medieval cd or piece of music that rivals this! This cd is the definition of a hidden gem, and you are missing out on an astonishing beauty if you don't at least give this one a listen
