I watched the U2 special with David Letterman, and it made me interested in buying this. I love it and don't love it at the same time. Best song redone is still haven't found what I'm looking for.
Some new song versions grab you, other sound as if they're not even trying. If you love U2, you'll enjoy it. But it won't be your favorite.

I read an article about this new studio effort by U2 - recording their top songs from the past without the heavy beat, etc. More like ballads. These are great musicians but in my opinion NONE of them should be doing solos of their music at a ballad tempo. It is hard to express how disappointed I was as many of the songs I did not even recognize until nearly half way thru. First person that sends my their mailing address I will send you my copy free, just to get it out of my house.

Life Long U2 Fans Should Find this an Interesting Reinterpretation of Their Catalog

Not exactly essential, but listenable and interesting to hear the Edge and Bono revisit songst hat cover their 30+ year career. Some really nice moments. Worth picking up for around $20 or less. Watched the U2 performance of these songs on Disney+ was interesting to hear Bono and the Edge realize that early-on they weren't writing songs in keys that were the best for Bono to sing in. He had to push his voice. I believe some of these versions have amended that issue, giving him greater control of his voice. He sounds great. Dig the less is more approach to these tunes. Won't play it often, but it will stay in my record rotation. It won't collect dust.
