I've bought a couple of pairs of these, and over the past 8 years I've also bought about 10 competing models of earbuds in the same general price range ($10-$25). None of them sound nearly as good as these in my experience. Another reviewer mentioned their great bass response, which I agree with. I usually listen to trance on various mp3 players with all these headsets, as these still stand clearly above the others. Part of it is the rubber earpiece plug they use. The set comes with three sizes of plugs, so they should fit very snugly and be somewhat sound-isolating compared to other earbuds like Koss' The Plug. I haven't listened to very much music with wide dynamics like classical music (which is going to be compressed in mp3 format anyway) but for electronic and pop music these are just great. Another plus is that the major part of the cord is reinforced in a kind of fabric wrap so that they are much less likely to tear the wires (closing a door or drawer, etc.) and so they've lasted longer than other sets. I really only have one gripe about them--the length of the cord. As a 6-foot tall guy, if I have the earbuds in my ears and I try to drop the player in my pants pocket to listen, the player doesn't always reach the bottom of my pocket. Not comfortable, and no, I don't want to clip it on my belt or something. Adding another 6" or 8" of cord length would really improve it for guys my height and taller. But this is a minor quibble considering just how good the sound is on these, and I'm sure I'll be buying them again when my current pair eventually gives out.

Okay I bought these Earphones in May. They've worked great for 3 months. The cord broke at the are where it plugs into the mp3 player. I can only hear out of one earphone, unless I bend the cord in a certain position.

Pros: Braided cord (really cool, probably adds some strength), good sound quality, comfortable, looks classy, and fits into an iPhone.

Cons: Short cord, Breaks after 3 months

Summary:

Don't buy. Save your money for something of higher quality and durability.

Bottom line first - well worth the price.
Strong on base but not over powering so. Sound quality excellent at least for me
Quality construction and they fit comfortably in my ears.

Now for opinion.

If you are a true audiophile no ear buds can compete with over the ear headphones.
If you are looking for true noise cancellation then you need something that does that electronically.
These fit snugly in the ear and thus does a commendable job of outside noise suppression.

I own at least 6 different earphones of different makes and models (excluding those that come with an I-Pod and such) these now rank high on my list.

These headphones stopped working after 3 months. The sound doesn't come through the left earphone anymore. Wish I had bought them in a regular store, like Radio Shack, so I could go back in and complain. Now all i can do is write a review to keep others from buying them and making the same mistake I did. Buy another brand.

This earphone looks to have a nice build quality. But as others have pointed out, the bass is so magnified that I cannot tolerate using it for songs that already have some bass. The bass often dominates all other sounds, and the result is like you are standing next to a subwoofer, which is not enjoyable. But, for songs with not much bass, the sound is quite good.

We know it is easy to fool an average person into thinking the music being played is better if the sound is made louder or bass made heavier. This product achieves both by being very sensitive (thus louder sounds) and with magnified bass.

Additional comment added on 02/27/09: Now I wonder if the high bass is due to the fact that the earbuds need to be plugged INTO ears, leaving very small room for vibration of sound. If you cover your ears using hands with pressure, you will hear heavier bass of your own voice. When I don't push the earbuds into my ears, the heavy bass problem is greatly reduced, although the sound isolation feature is also compromised.

Additional comments on 04/23/09: I just had a chance of using it on planes. It worked very well. I bought it at 20. For the size and price I paid, it definitely is worth it.

I bought these earbuds about a year ago from costco for only $20, and wasn't sure exactly what to expect. I was completely blown away with every single thing about them. I have tried competitive Sony earbuds, $80 JBL ear buds, and these are WAY better then either of them in sound quality, comfort, and price. The sound is amazing and have very good bass for in-ear earbuds. They go very loud, but if you have them loud, moderate, or quiet, the sound is very clear. The first pair I had got a tiny bit wet and the one ear bud stopped working, but the company sent me a free replacement pair under the 1 year warranty. After over a year of using these, when I put them in my ears I am still blown away by their sound quality and comfort.

Let me start by saying that I have an ear canal that curves in the opposite direction than most (I used to work at a hearing aid company, and had problems beta-testing our fit-all products due to this quirk). Thus, I find that a lot of earbuds fit me poorly or just aren't comfortable.

While these Sonix are not the most snug fit, they do feel pretty good in my odd ear canals. Best of all, they sound great--good bass, probably a bit too much, but not overpowering. The mids and trebles are decent.

The braided cable is truly cool--no cable handling noise at all.

Overall, a very good product for the price and construction. I'd readily buy them again.

These headphones work OK. I would like to see if they last longer than 6 months. The sound is a bit muddy. However, my biggest complaint is that the default volume is too loud. I use them with my smart phone and have to keep the phone on minimum volume while listening to media or the volume hurts my ears. I can't use them at all when I make phone calls because even with the phone at minimum volume, the sound coming through the headphones is painfully loud. This has not been the case with other headphones.
