I am not a review writer but I felt compelled to write a review on this show b/c this is the first show in a very long time that forced me to watch the whole season in one day. I am not a biker chick or never wanted a bike so I didn't think I would like it but this show was HIGHLY recommended so I took a chance and boy I wasn't disappointed. The characters, storyline and action are great and I don't feel anything is too farfetched. I hope they continue for seasons to come.

Seasons 1 and 2 were brilliant and beautiful. Nearly epic storylines of love, greed, manipulation, crime, murder, revenge, betrayal and redemption. Three-dimensional characters, flawed but sympathetic. At the end of each episode, you talk yourself into watching just one more.

But it's hard getting through season 3. The plots are convoluted. People's behavior doesn't make sense. Storylines that should have been wrapped up in a couple episodes are dragged out for the entire season. Lots of things happen, each more ridiculous than the last, and it gets a bit hard to care about some of the storylines. After every episode, I'd think "maybe the next one will be good." But most weren't.

Now, this is still Sons of Anarchy. There are some signs of high quality here. The main actors are still very good. Some of the story lines are good and make you care. But they are few and far between, literally. Getting through Season 3 is a real chore. You do it because you care about these characters and want to know what happens to them. But be warned, season 3 is a bit of a confusing mess, and not up to the high standards set by seasons 1 and 2.

Very rarely do I watch something on tv and continue to think about it days later. This season of SOA had that sort of impact on me.

************************* some may consider the rest a spoiler **************************************

With Jax's son kidnapped and Gemma going to jail we watch as the motorcycle club seems to be falling apart. The season opener started with a huge unforeseen bang. It was unbelievable. I really was in shock the entire episode. Especially, after the ended the second season with the way they did.

I think this show has some serious writers. With the scenarios they come up with and how they bring everything together has me WOWed.

I honestly, watched this entire season in one night. I was up until 5am the other morning just trying to see what happens next. This is one of the best series I've seen. I'll be thinking of this show for a long time.

This season had it's moments but overall, it was by far my least favorite. Thankfully, Sutter came back very strong with Season 4, which I find is the best yet. The Ireland deal was really drug out for too long. It wasn't hard to see why this season wasn't nominated for anything. It's still one of the best on T.V. so it's easy to forgive this glitch.

The twists and turns of this season grew the world of Charming, CA by ten-fold. Completely satisfying. I've been a fan since running across mention of the show pre-Season 1. Between Kurt Sutter's raw, rambling, passionate blog and the brilliant writing, directing and acting on this show each week you have a perfect blend of entertainment rarely seen. The characters are real and Shakespearean, the plot original and often completely unexpected, and like every great love, you are left wanting more.

And thank you Amazon for partnering to provide a great alternative to cable/satellite tv. I almost resubscribed just to watch Sons this season (there was no way I was waiting 30 days for Hulu and no way I was going without!) I am thrilled to have found the on-demand video.

Now for the painful wait for Season 4!

Sutter crafted this one perfectly. I really thought Jax was gonna fold for minute. Jimmy O took his fate like a soldier, unlike Stahl, the sniveling begging weasel that she is (was). Opie is centered again. Hells Angels president Sonny Barger cameo as "Lenny the pimp"? just brilliant.

Season 3 takes the two wrong directions that started as the "cliffhanger" of season 2 and instead of writing them off in the first 5 minutes as they should have done. They should not have ended season 2 so lamely to begin with. It's like they took this sudden right turn into inanity land in the season 2 finale. There have always been these lame moments on this show, anything with the ATF lady for example, but there was always enough good stuff to keep your interest. Not this time. The two main plot threads of the season were throwaways that should have been crumpled up and thrown in the wastebasket in the writers room on the way to the next "Eureka!" moment. They were both "Oh no, don't go there this is TOO STUPID" when they happened in the season 2 finale and then they flog these dead horses ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE NEXT SEASON! Add to this the uniformly TERRIBLE acting from ALL the guest cast (no Henry Rollins this year), especially the ATF lady who should never have appeared on the show to begin with, and the Bosch star with his terrible phony Irish brogue, the silly boss lady at the hospital, the pathetic performance by Hal Holbrook etc. etc. Every time one of these insipid characters shows up I have to hit the mute and just watch the subtitles. Also whenever there's a music montage I have to slam the mute. Who likes these? Five minutes of checking in with each character in the ensemble doing nothing important with some incongruous song that doesn't really fit the mood. If you binge-watch seasons back-to-back you have to endure five minutes of dead air at the end of the finale and then five minutes of dead air at the beginning of the premiere while Kurt Sutter plays his favorite tunes! Irritating!Read more ›
