"Sons of Stone" is the contemporary equivalent of "The Velvet Underground and Nico." Only a few people will buy it or hear it, but most of them will start a band. Most of those bands will be horrible, but that's not the point.

The People's Temple sounds like a hideous mutation of the genes of The Stooges, The Rolling Stones ca. 1965, The Velvets, and the "Nuggets" compilation. It also sounds like it was recorded in the locker room at an old college field house, on a mono cassette recorder.

Best of all, you can barely understand the words. Lyrics are not usually the strong point of rock music, and the more obscure, the better.

It's impressive to hear a group of younger guys pull-in so many 60's psych and early punk influences, and do it in a such a genuine and unique way, without sounding hokey or boring.

Their latest 2012 release is just as good, if not better, than Sons of Stone.

They should be more popular or well-known than they are.

really awesome lo-fi 60's psych/garage rock inspired disc! found this disc at a goodwill (along with a bunch of other strangeness) and at first, i did'nt know what to think of these guys. lots of trippy "the Doors" like music and sound effects makes this one a very interesting but familiar listen. After a bit of research i discovered that they we're a very prolific band, recording many singles and full length albums during the last few years, i recommend this disc to anyone who digs 60's pych or just plain classic 60's hardcore rock!

Likely one of the best Michigan rock 'n' roll bands to come out of the 2000s. It's got the raw power of the Stooges, psych'd up weirdness of the 13th Floor Elevators. This is a classic Michigan rock LP from guys who were still in high school at the time. Amazing record.
