The pros make for a great shooter, but at this price range there are other cameras with fewer of the cons listed below that make for better video cameras (like Panasonic's Lumix). I, for one, would not miss the EVF and would appreciate a larger LCD screen overall and flash. Currently using with 20mm 2.8 and Sigma 18-35mm 1.8 for Canon EF with MC-11 adapter.
PROS:
-Good battery life
-IBIS
-Fastest AF, with eye-af
-Mic/headphone ports for videoographers
-Ability to lock dials
-Up to 3 modes to toggle for the top and rear dials (can toggle to use dials to adjust a setting like ISO, AF mode, etc)
-Dedicated video record button
CONS:
-Hard to reach back button (menu is back button)
-Touch screen doesn't work on menus (just for AF)
-Largest aspect ratio setting is 3:2 but display screen is 16:9 so there are black bars on the left and right of the display. The display should have ben 3:2 instead.
-Older Sony sensor. Competitors have better sensors with more MP (see next 2 points)
-Limited 4K movie modes, only 30p in 4K. Only 8-bit
-Rolling shutter, not good for serious vloggers
-No flash (would rather have a small pop-up flash instead of the EVF)
-EVF black outs during capture (unlike some competitors)
-Selfie LCD screen is blocked by hotshoe accessories (need smallrig coldshoe relocators for vlogging, but this misses out on hot features)
-Only 1 card slot, only UHS-I (slow buffer speeds, unable to operate anything other than shoot, while clearing buffer memory)
-In-camera level doesn't do straight up or down
-Boxy ergonomics
-Memory recall modes don't recall settings for modes other than 1 or 2. Not so useful when switching cameras (want to recall all settings for modes M, A, S, movie, etc). Also doesn't save ALL camera settings.
-C2 and C1 buttons should be swapped

I bought this as a stopgap while waiting for the new A7, but I have been thoroughly impressed. Only using it for video at the moment, but it works so well in that manner for a small camera. Battery life is ridiculously long. I bought 4 batteries, I have never taken the original one out, it just never runs out on a shoot. Video quality is great, but I output to a Ninja V so I am recording outside of the camera. Very impressive little camera, do I really need a A7s III?

I found a deal (separately) on the Carl Zeiss f/4 16-70mm lens and the image quality is staggering on both photo and video. I do mostly documentary-style interviews, vlogging / informational videos, and webinars. I found a simple converter for less than $100 that makes it simple to use this as a 1080p beautiful webcam.
This camera is a joy to use. If you use it for long periods of time (as I do in a studio setting), consider finding a dummy A/C power battery to prevent overheating (a very common Sony issue for any shoots longer than ~45min).
Sony's autofocus and color settings are simply the best. It would be nice to have dual SD card slots, but that's really the only thing I miss when I consider the much more expensive a7siii.

I find the removal of the onboard flash is a significant drop in the functionality of the a6600 as opposed to its predecessor the a6500 which did include the flash. Without the flash it makes it a requirement for me to carry an external unit with my type of photography, which negates the advantage of having the smaller, more portable camera system provided with the APS-C alpha series of cameras and lenses as opposed to it's larger, full-framed cousins. While this might not be an issue for some, to me this camera becomes a much worse value than the a6500 which it replaced. Although I would very much like to have IBIS, I will be purchasing an a6400 instead which has nearly all of the upgraded features of the a6600 but retains the on-board flash.Reviewed in Canada on August 9, 2020
As well, the a6600 which I received had a faulty EVF with a somewhat large (to me anyways) grey circle appearing in the upper-left hand quadrant of the screen. See attached photo taken with my cell phone looking through the EVF. The grey circle was present regardless if I was viewing a live scene, a captured image, or even the menu system as you can see in the picture. The dot was not present on the LCD on the back of the unit, nor was it present on the images it took.
