Ok so let me tell you about this piece of crap. I bought it solely for the "300+ streaming apps: Netflix, YouTube, Hulu Plus, Amazon Instant Video & more," right? After all, there are literally THOUSANDS of blu-ray players out there that I could pick from, but only very few claim to give access to Hulu, Vudu, Netflix, Amazon Prime, AND You Tube like this one does.
Except that it doesn't. Oh it has all the 300+ apps, that wasn't a lie, but getting them to work is an entirely different story. Netflix works. Vudu too. And probably another 200+ apps no one has ever heard of or wanted to use. Hulu, Amazon Prime, You Tube? Dream on. Every attempt to access a video works for about 15 seconds (commercials always work, can you dig that?), and then an error pops up claiming: "Cannot open this application because it is too large."
So I do what everyone else would do and Google the error, and guess what I find? Strings of forum posts and complaints going back to 2015! Literally going back to the year it came out. Oh, there are dozens of responses from so-called Sony "experts," suggesting you do everything from resetting the device, reconfiguring your WiFi settings, everything but turning around in three circles, clicking your heels, and saying "There's no piece of crap like Sony." Did I do everything they suggested? You bet. I did everything but actually sacrifice a chicken for the thing. And the end result is same. It doesn't work.
So to sum up, this device is falsely advertised, and Sony has been getting away with selling it, as advertised, for over two years. I've never had a particular preference before, but I sure as hell know what I won't be buying from now on. Sony.
