These are my first real pair of decent earbuds and I don't see upgrading any time soon.
First off I want to bring up the few complaints I have about these. For one they are hard to fit for the first time. Like I speant 15 minutes just getting them in but once you get the right earcup and qing aize they can be put in and oit easily. Once they are in a second minor problem arises, the size. The controls are very good. It has volume up and down, song skip and previous song, pause, play, and power. The buttons are easy to use and make listining very easy and fun without having to even touch your phone. The charging is easy and lasts quite a while. Pairing is also a breeze with easy Bluetooth and even easier NFC which is hard to find at this price. And speaking of Bluetooth the headphones have quite a range with me basically being able to go anywhere in my house without losing connection (the same cannot be said with my QC35S). So again meaning it is great for around the house listning or working out.
Now for the elephant on the table, sound, and all I can say is wow. They have very very good bass. Better than my Bose QC35 which is a bit flat but these at full volume can easily have some head shaking bass. I mean they are the extra bass model and this is very true. I would actually expect this sound quality from headphone over $150 easy. The vocals are very crisp and clear with highs that don't really distort at all even at max volume. Basically the sound is better than most headphones is general especially for this price. And if you get them used for $25, well, it's a no brainer. As far as value to performance ratio these may be my best purchase ever. Not to mention they are splash proof which is good to deflect sweat it a splash of water. Honestly the only reason these are as cheap as they are is because they are quite large and don't have noise canceling which you won't even need at max volume.
I would recommend these to anyone looking for an amazing pair of headphones. Amazing.

First off I want to bring up the few complaints I have about these. For one they are hard to fit for the first time. Like I speant 15 minutes just getting them in but once you get the right earcup and qing aize they can be put in and oit easily. Once they are in a second minor problem arises, the size. They are very large and might draw some eyes because they are that big. But after those two complaints all I can say is wow.
The earbuds are very comfortable and once they are in they stay in comfortably. So for exercise or lawn mowing they are excellent. They are easy to throw in a pocket or bag too which is also good.
Amazing.

Bought these for my sister for Christmas- they broke by the end of January (power button fell off) since it was 30 days past purchase the seller wouldn't accept a return so they had to be sent back to Sony-- they were accepted at the Sony warehouse on March 8 and she keeps getting the run around from Sony about getting a replacement-- they claim she didn't really send them back and they are "investigating" - she's never able to talk to a manager and they never call back like they say they will - DO NOT BUY THESE!!

Let me start by saying that I've used a lot of headphones over the past couple of years for travel, quiet listening, and most importantly while exercising. A couple of headphones that I've used in the past include:
1. Sennheiser PX-100 II (Used to be my go-to headphones during travel due to their portability)
2. Sennheiser OCX 685i Sports in-ear headphones (Used to be the headphones I use during workouts)
3. Audio Technica ATH-M50x (Brilliant reference headphones for quiet listening sessions)
4. SOL Republic Tracks (The best bass heavy pair of headphones I owned that just made me enjoy music by giving an in-the-club feeling)
5. Sony MDR-AS800AP Active Sports headphones (I tried these based on the Wirecutter review and can surely say that they replaced the Sennheiser OCX 685i as my go-to sports and workout headphones)
The Sony MDR-AS800AP became my favorite pair overall because they were in-ear, easy to carry, had the most amazing sound profile with good bass, slightly recessed mids, and good treble - essentially a slight V sound profile that I like and helps me keep pumping during workouts. Unfortunately, my brother took those from me which is when my search for the next best pair started. I wanted to try various bluetooth headphones but didn't want another piece of hardware to charge regularly on top of my phone, smartwatch, tablet, Surface etc.
However, based on my need and after reading many reviews I finally bit the bullet and tried the JayBird X2 Sport Wireless Headphones and the JLab Audio Epic 2 Wireless headphones. I was hugely disappointed by both of them, coming from the Sonys. The JayBird X2's had a very sharp V sound profile and were not loud enough with no mid-bass at all that balanced the sound out. On the other hand, the JLab Epic 2 had a decent sound profile but was marred by the continuous disconnection and skipping of tracks even when my phone (Samsung Galaxy S7) was in my pocket. I felt as if the jump to bluetooth headphones wasn't warranted right now.
I checked on the Sony website and found that they had released 3 new pairs of bluetooth headphones: MDR-XB50BS, MDR-XB80BS, and the MDR-XB70BT. I might be the probable first customer on Amazon to have ordered these headphones and had high hopes for them based on my previous experience with Sony Sport headphones. And boy - did they deliver! These bluetooth headphones are fantastic, to say the least. Their sound profile is similar (and maybe a tad better) than the MDR-AS800AP. The extra bass feature is actually there and delivers oodles of oomph, maybe even more so than the AS800AP. It's definitely a V sound profile but I listened to a few vocal tracks and found nothing to complain of. The treble and bass shine while not sacrificing the mids at all. These are definitely going to help me go that extra length during my workouts.
Also, I tested the connectivity on these and it's nowhere like the JLab Epic 2's. I roamed about in my apartment and there was no skipping or stuttering of music. Voice calls were clear and loud too with the person on the other side not finding anything to complain about the quality of my voice. The headphones come with 4 pairs of earbuds and 3 arc supporters to help find the perfect fit and unlike the behind-the-ear type of sport headphones (which tend to dislodge the earbud from the ear canal and therefore have to be readjusted every few minutes), stay put even while running, jumping rope, doing push-ups, or bench presses. They are comfortable and I wore them for 3-4 hours straight without any discomfort.
I would be conducting some battery run-time tests soon but for now, I must say - Sony has once again blown me over with this product. It sounds wonderful, is comfortable, fits well in the ear, has amazing clarity for voice calls, has a good bluetooth connectivity range and has totally changed my outlook on good wireless, sport headphones. I would recommend them whole-heartedly to anyone who is looking for a great pair of wireless sport headphones.

I got lucky and bought these headphones for $38. The four-year extended warranty was only two dollars more. Thank you Amazon!
I am a musician and I can tell you that these headphones sound fantastic. It is true that for some kinds of music you might feel there is a lot of bass but you can get used to it. Extra bass is in their name! Also, there is a free app called EQ 10 that will allow you to adjust the sound (in iTunes) to your taste. I rolled off a little bass, added a little mids and highs and the sound now sparkles!
A lot of people have complained that the control buttons fall off but after having them for one month that has not happened. They are kind of big and you may have to readjust them from time to time to get them to stay in (one star off for that). Play around with the different sizes of ear pieces to find the one that works the best. The bass response is directly related to the phones being seated properly in the ear. Worth the money!

These were great headphones but fell apart within 1 month - the power button fell off after the third use, and now they won't charge anymore either. I'll be calling Sony to get a new pair and hope mine were just lemons, but very disappointed with the build quality given the price.

Bad design Very unsatisfied
Reviewed in India on September 11, 2018Verified Purchase
Beware ! If your usage is only for listening to audio while watching movie or listening to music, this is very good. BUT if you plan to make or receive phone calls, this product is a disaster unless you are okay with listening through one ear and holding the mic part in your hand (not connected to your ear) and talking into the mic holding that end near your mouth. Because, if you connect both the ear buds to your ears and make calls, the other party won't be able to hear anything.. You'll be asked to "pls talk louder.. Your voice is very low" This could be a design fault as the mic is a dot in the right ear bud and not like a hanging mic near the mouth.

sound quality is very good and it was exactly the sound quality I was looking for.. reason for giving it three stars is on the design and make.. the rubber covering on the power button and the volume control falls off easily.. at times when you only want to put on one ear piece it's difficult to leave the other end hanging especially when you are in upright position (standing or sitting), because it drags the other end out from your ear. putting it around your neck doesn't help as it still slides down.

Incredible quality for the price. I expected okay quality, but this headphones surpasses my expectations.
It fits very well for me and it comes with 3 different sized earbuds and anchors. It feels comfortable, I can keep them on for hours without problem. The bass is good, the sound is clear. The battery is incredible, I got at least 7 hours of listening. The microphone is alright, the other person doesn't hear loud enough if you don't hold the microphone (right earphone) close to your mouth. The connection is very stable, I never get cut-offs.
In overall, I'm very happy with the product, only downside is the microphone, but I don't really use it.

Decent BT Earphones, but low mic range and prone to break.
Reviewed in Canada on February 26, 2019Verified Purchase
Decent bluetooth earphones, but expensive. Immediately on testing, first thing that jumps out is the fact that the microphone reception is absolutely horrible when using them in both ears. I generally had to pull the right earpiece away and bring it to my mouth in order for the microphone to work properly. After only about two months of uncommon use (1-3 work days per week), the volume button came completely off, and the under-cladding is now fully exposed to the elements. The protective plastic over-shell is also peeling off in multiple places, despite there being no damage to the device itself.
Sound quality is decent, but the range is horrible. I experience significant noise if I step further than about six feet from the phone. Battery life is excellent, I easily last a week without having to recharge with regular use. Recharge is quick, as well.
I am a bit under-whelmed with the product, definitely NOT worth $105 CDN.

Headphones are OK, I used these predominantly at the Gym only.
Pros:
- Good sound quality
- Good fitment (I've always had good fit with Sony headphones)
- Good battery life
Cons:
- They're BIG, very bulky
- No case or anything to carry them in
- The cable's a little long, and there's no clip to shorten it to tighten around your head
- They start coming out of my ears when I run, impacting the sound quality and sound isolation
Biggest issue:
- Quality issues, the volume down button didn't work on mine so I had to send them back. Coupled with the cons, I didn't end up keeping these.
