Sony CDXGT 930UI an Excellent stereo

Wazap fellas, I've had this unit for a few months and I can tell you it's awesome.
Let me break it down for you guys.

The good:
- excellent sound (I have 2 amps with some subs) sounds 10 times better that my old pioneer unit.
- Very easy to use, specially while driving. The remote is also very easy to use.
- Super fast controls with almost no delay when playing ipod/external audio input.
- It charges my ipod. I don't have to keep taking it out every other day and didnt have to purchase additional wires to connect my ipod
- burned cds/mps play with no problem
- 4 volts for the front, rear, sub output (makes your beat rock)

The bad:
- During the day, the illumination is poor. You can barely see what's on the screen when the sun is hitting it directly. I usually have my fog lights on during the day which dims the brightness of the stereo and makes it even harder to see.
- The navigation knob is very sensitive. Depending on what you are playing, when changing tracks (knob to the left or right) u can mistakenly change the folder or start your ipod from the first track (knob up or down). The proximity of this feature is very sensitive.
- Text display is very limited, only two option and u can't turn it off. (i wish i could)
- The unit give you 3 illumination options (blue, red, green), but the bright light around the knob does not change when a different color is selected (it stays blue).

I gave this unit a 5 star rating based on its great sounds, (I love the EQ drop graphic), and how easy it is to use once you get familiar with the unit. A few minor bubu's but for $175 and no shipping charges, I haven't had a unit at this price that had left me so satisfied.

4 line display worthless for Sirius Satellite

I bought this unit thinking that the huge 4 line display was going to give me all of the information about the music pumping from the Sirius Satellite box. Not-so-much. It displays the same old information as any standard one line display. You can choose from the station (80's on 8) the Genre (pop) the Artist, or the song title. But you CANNOT have it all. Heck, even a simple artist and song title was what I wanted, but not on this huge 4 line display.

All you get is one of the choices. Okay, I choose Title.... It will scroll through the song title (on one line) and then when it gets to the end of the title, if it is a long one, it will start back at the beginning and then only put a few characters on the screen. If you want to see the rest of the name, you need to hold the scroll button down and it will beep at you and then run through the song name again. This was terribly annoying!

After shutting off the ridiculous video options in the background of some people hitting a ball or riding on a boat or whatever it was, the huge 4 line screen is left with the time, and 1/2 of the song title and THAT'S IT! What a waste of a perfectly good screen. All I want is the song information, but this unit will not do it. I suppose if you want this information from the iPod, it will give it to you, but not from SAT information.

worked on a 2009 nissan frontier; se crew cab; w/o fosgate radio.

cons:
no direct buttons for radio stations.
as is, cannot turn off faceplate warning beep when ignition turned off.

pros:
radio stations sound better than stock radio.
for mp3s, lists artist, album, song, folder #, song #, time playing.
2gb usb loads fast; within a few seconds playing music.
can shuffle full usb device or just a folder.

eh:
menu navigation not too bad - for a radio.
control knob takes some getting used to.
control knob is fairly stiff so few accidental selections.

faceplate warning beep:
when the ignition is turned off, 5 seconds later, the radio emits 2 beeps, 3 times, through the speakers - every time; very annoying.
the beeps are supposed to remind you to take your precious faceplate out of your vehicle.
while you can turn off the menu/knob beeps, this sony 'feature' can not be turned off.
you can buy/install an external amplifier to turn off the annoying beep.
or you can buy/install a relay between the ignition wire and ground of speakers to turn the speakers off - search the 'interweb'
