Top Customer Reviews
This bundle specifically is wonderful! 3 batteries, a wall charger that can also be used in the car, 64 gig card that's 4K video ready, and much more. GREAT VALUE
I use this camera for mostly food photography, travel, and for social events with friends. There's an app Sony PlayMemories that let's you send photos to your phone via WiFi as well as use your phone as a remote control. These features are awesome for selfies or for use with a tripod (in case you have shaky hands like me).
This is better than some of the DSLR's I've used in the past, because of its larger sensor than most P&S cameras. The closest camera in its class is the Fujifilm X100T, and it certainly edges it out in a number of areas. But the Sony RX100 is cheaper, has an articulating LCD screen (for that essential selfie mode), and it FITS IN YOUR POCKET. These 3 things make the Sony RX100 the winner in my opinion.
I really like the slow motion capability although for the most part it is unusable in video projects. It's fun to watch things in slow motion but unfortunately the video quality is typically going to be very grainy due to the high-shutter speed necessary.
I don't like that it doesn't have a touch-screen focus function. While taking videos at Disney World last month sometimes you want to focus on your kid, then focus on Cinderella's castle in the background, etc. You can't do that with this camera so perhaps I'm spoiled by nearly every other camera I have which has a touch-to-focus function.
Now here is the deal breaker - the overheating. People say it only overheats in 4k video mode but that is not true. I've lost some priceless video footage because this thing needs to shut down due to internal heat. I've got the screen pulled away to help but to no avail. It will shut down at the worst possible time.
For $900+ dollars I would strongly advise DO NOT BUY THIS CAMERA! I will never let a friend or family member buy this camera and I would definitely not buy it again. Honestly, if somebody would offer me $750 I would jump all over it.
