I've looked for a long time for a camera that would be perfect for recording at night. Most of the newer ones I've looked at do okay in low light, but they don't have night vision. This camera has super night shot, which is fantastic. Coupled with an IR light, there's no stopping it. It would be perfect for 4th of July, or anything that you need to record at night. I know a lot of people mentioned that it's good for nature vidoes, and I see why. The picture quality during the day is wonderful as well. I love this camera and I'm thrilled I got it. It arrived quickly and looks brand new!

It did not work. I ordered it so I could play the old tapes due to my old one did not recognize the tape. The one I ordered from Amazon through Upbeat Electronics not only does not recognize the tapes but the touch screen does not work either. They failed to mention anything was wrong with it. Very disappointed.

This was a replacement for a similar camcorder that broke down. I usually only buy new, but I really loved the camcorder that broke. Nice size for holding and great video results. The used camcorder works perfectly and came with all its parts plus some. Although the viewfinder only shows black-and-white, the fold out screen shows full color. When this one poops out, I'll probably look for a DCR-HC42 which tapes in 9:16. This one only does 3:4. But the picture is very clear on my 50 inch high def TV!

Playback feature doesn't hold up.

I have had two of these cameras. Both cameras broke down when it came to the playback feature. That feature is controlled by the touch-screen. Both cameras tough-screen features failed. I would not buy another one.

Cannot connect to Mac 2012

Bought this to digitize tapes shot on my procam. Now I use this more than the HDV camera. Has all the controls I need but I wish it had the audio functions I miss on the prosumer camera. Never thought I would prefer this over the big brother. I haven't had disappointments with the zoom but I did install a wide angle adapter for better room coverage. Keep it mounted ALL the time.

It was a great purchase. It is perfect for the amount of recording I do. Although you have to purchase the bigger battery to get the longer life, it is worth every penny.
