It is missing a connection cord to allow photos to be downloaded, without which one cannot get photos off of the camera and use all it's features. It also lacks the instruction manual.
I contacted the seller about this missing equipment. She responded by erroneously claiming that she had told me at sale that the camera "only" came with the parts it came with. This is untrue. She said it came with the battery and battery charger, but did NOT say anything about it failing to come with any other parts, such as the connection cord and instruction manual.
Further, the battery does not fully charge in the battery charger as something seems to be damaged. Separately and in addition, the battery compartment lock on the camera also malfunctions. The camera view screen is also scratched. It is difficult to see what is being photoed.
This is the P&S I have been looking for. EXCELLENT CAMERA! Note: I don't care about the zoom (5x). What I care about is the Image Quality.
UPDATE - 1/13/11 - I went to Disneyland on New Year's Eve and took a video of the Parade. The video quality is excellent! It is as good as a high end camcorder.. it is simply amazing in 1080p or even 720p. The only draw back is the battery life. I brought an extra battery to make sure.. and I am glad I did. I highly recommend this camera!
-image stabilizer is a little weak for video, when you start to zoom in or out it causes the lens to jerk or twitch because of the slight play in the mechanism
-despite the good lcd resolution it's a little difficult to tell if you are focusing properly
-battery life is kind of short, and if you turn the dial to video mode the stabilizer runs full time even if you are not recording which helps drain the battery faster. I recommend leaving the dial in a photo mode and just use the dedicated video button.
-no option to view photo details without maxing out the lcd backlight, increasing battery drain
-on cloudy days the pictures look very under-saturated (compared to panasonic ZS3)
-the sweep panorama feature does a decent job of stitching but by design will never be able to make excellent pictures. No camera can take good full resolution pictures while you are swinging the camera around. So the camera basically is taking a bunch of reduced resolution pictures at high speed to stitch together. Which brings me to my next point....
-There is no way to lock exposure for multiple still shots so you can make your own really nice full resolution panoramas with a free stitching program like "Hugin"
Otherwise this is a really great snapshot camera. The hand held twilight mode is very nice and effective. Superior auto works very well and is my go-to mode for a quick snap. The multi-angle 3d pics look very cool
The high dynamic range mode does not seem very effective at all. It only uses 2 pictures to stack. The video is super sharp but the image stabilizer struggles a bit especially when you zoom or are videoing a moving object like a train.
The battery life seemed terrible at first but after cycling the battery a couple times it seems much more reasonable. Plus you can pick up a spare battery for a few bucks from a popular auction website, you know the one I mean.
All in all this is a great small camera to carry in your pocket for when a photo opportunity comes up, just make sure the battery is charged up.
It takes amazing low light pictures, it has many cool features such as Panorama Pictures, 3D pictures (on the camera itself or you can connect it to a 3D TV), and background defocus (similar to DSLR pictures with blurred backgrounds).
This is definitely the best bang for the buck, and this Sony camera also takes SD/SDHC cards (previously, sony cameras only supported their own memory card format, this allows for either the Sony format or the SD/SDHC cards).
This camera also has a wide angle lens which allows for wider nicer pictures...it definitely beats carrying around a DSLR if you want something on the go.
It also takes beautiful Full HD videos (1920 x 1080, 60i), the other Point and shoot cameras (such as the supposedly best one the canon s95) can only do 720i at 24fps...
