I haven't had a single disconnect with the Sony adapter, and fine control of the analog sticks is so much better than the other options. Do controller calibration in Windows, and do the same in Steam Big Picture mode (when you're playing Steam games), and you'll be surprised how much better it works.
The first page of the huge multi-language manual has the only bit of information you'll need for setup, that there is no visible pairing button on the adapter, you push the whole thing in for about 4s to put it in paring mode. Then, hold the Share button on the controller until it flashes quickly, and that's it.
The only feature it's lacking is the ability to check battery charge level. There's no warning when you're running low, so just make sure you keep your controller charged.
Then this bad boy came along and blew them all out of the water. Just pop it in a USB slot, press the entire stick to get syncing and you have a perfect link for your controller. Yeah, it's pricey, but I've spend twice this trying to get it working half this well.
I have 1 gripe. when it is plugged in, it swapped EVERY sound and mic device to the adapter and I have to switch it back every time I plug it back in. I would leave it in, but it keeps my computer from falling asleep. But that is the only thing.
With this receiver, I was connected to my DS4 in seconds. The connection has been 100% reliable ever since (200+ hours of playtime, at least). Best of all, it functions with Windows 10's new DualShock integration features, so Windows recognizes it as a DualShock 4 and not as a generic game controller. This means most games display the correct button configurations in menus and cutscenes (i.e. No more "Press B to dodge"; it's "Press O to dodge").
The adapter is small and discreet; easy enough to be kept in whatever on-the-go case you carry your DS4 in.
I have seen no noticeable input lag, but take that with a grain of salt because the only games I play at the competitive level are played with keyboard and mouse. For anything short of competitive gaming, I can confidently recommend this product.
Just follow the instructions to sync your controller then open DS4 windows. If you don't see the controller on DS4, go to the control panel and enable the "HID game controller."
The one thing to keep in mind however is that it does seem really fragile so plug it in the back and be somewhat gentle with it.
The product tells you to unplug it when not in use but that's not necessary nor do you have to resync the devices. Pressing the home button (sometimes a couple of times) will automatically connect you. I don't know what others are doing to get negative results but this device works exactly as I wanted it to.

I use this for my Dualshock 4 on PC.
For a majority of games you will likely need to use a third party tool such as InputMapper to get functionality of the controller.
With this USB stick you will get full access to the dualshock features such as using the USB jack for your headset/mic & also be able to use the touchpad as a mouse.
My only real letdown with this is that it can only support one controller at a time.
Great product for anybody interested in PC gaming with a controller
Also don't pay over the odds for the adaptor, it's not worth the £56 you see people flouting it for here on Amazon, you can pick this up in a multitude of stores online or brick 'n mortar for closer to the £20 it should be priced at although stock and availability may vary due to this being a pretty popular product.
It's very small easy to carry around when you travel
So anyone wanting to use PlayStation now or PlayStation remote while on travels or in a bed room when someone's hogging the tv
All you need to do is pack this in your bag with a controller and your laptop and away go
Very easy to connect to a laptop or pc by pushing the dongle in for 4 seconds then pressing the share and ps button on controller and that's it
But remember that you need to plug your controller back into your PS4 with a lead for it to work again with your console
Controllers can only be paired to one place at a time
*Edit* In some cases leaving the dongle in during either a reboot or a startup will prevent a computer booting, just pull the dongle out to resolve this.
