Very good at night in low contrast situations, in auto focus. Kit lens is not good enough to fully realize it's strengths. Zeiss 55mm makes the camera sing, the difference in sharpness helps 12mp full frame a lot at high ISO when noise is there, close-up to mid distance its useable to ISO 80,000. Best to 25,000. This is for stills, video is very good. Five axis is just below OMD E-m5 mark 11. If you add a little fill, even a small led with Lee filters on it DIY on dim setting can open up midnight. No touch screen, is criminal. Adapted manual glass is very good. 55mm 2.8 micro Nikkor is as good as the Zeiss except in speed. Many fast old lenses are good, but you gain a lot with the good low light auto focus of the Zeiss. Yeah it's a one trick pony, but it good at night.

The camera is great. Everything else in the kit is cheaply made garbage. The card isn't fast enough to work with the camera in 4K, the flash also doesn't work with the camera, the extra battery charger turns on and off, the card carrying case fell apart when I opened it, the screen protectors have some sort of glue on them so you can't see your screen at all, the "flexible" tripod can't support the weight of the camera with a lens on it, and the bag literally is coming apart from the seams less than a month after purchase...but hey, it's a great price for the camera itself!
This camera changed my life. I recently offloaded all my pro Canon gear and evolved to the Sony system. Menus are complicated and take a while to learn, but it's a small price to pay. Learning curve. If you're reading this, you probably already know about the 4k video and high ISO capabilities...all great features. I like being able to shoot 4k at 60 fps too, and 1280 p at 120 fps, for some really slow slo-motion.
I did by the Bundle here, and not sure what I really take away from that. The price was worth it for the card alone, but I hate putting half the other stuff in the trash -- which it is. The flash, the wipes, the light meter, and the case, it's all trash. But the batter, card ready, gorilla pod and the extra charger all make the bundle worthwhile.
A long time Nikon shooter who turned to Canon during the "DSLR Revolution" for their leading approach to video, I gave great consideration to Sony vs Canon before buying this camera. I tested the waters with the Sony A6000 with the cropped (APS-C) sensor. I now use the A6000's kit lenses for sharp images, auto focus, and image stabilization to compliment the A7Sii's native in-camera IS. I also bought two Fotodiox adapters for both Sony camera bodies, and use them with Rokinon Cine DS lenses I already had, and have not issues using the E-mount prime lenses with the Sony camera bodies. I have only had trouble using my Canon 100-400 (L) lens, which has serious vignetting issues. I suspect this is an APS-C lens, though I thought it was full-frame. I'm looking to sell that lens and move up to the Sony 28-135 G-OSS video lens. If you buy this for video, be sure to watch Philip Bloom's workshop video on the A7S, especially regarding tweaks to Picture Profiles that provide latitude similar to SLOG2 and SLOG3 (though the custom settings give only 200 ISO minimum, compared to 1600 for the stock SLOG profiles). Hope this helps! - Thom
Camera is great, but I rate this product with three stars because the camera didn't come sealed, it appeared to be an open box product. Second, some of the accessories don't work with the camera, the Power flash does not work with the camera since it isn't compatible with the Multi interface shoe and the memory card is good for pictures but it is not for 4K video or high frame rates, you're going to need a faster memory card.
Absolutely amazing camera and the kit comes with some great stuff. I'm about to shoot my first short on it this Saturday. Only downside, buy more batteries. The A7sii eats power really fast.
