24.2-megapixel APS-C Exmor CMOS sensor

A new APS-C sensor with approximately 24.2 effective megapixels features copper wiring and enhanced circuit processing that lower the wiring layer and boost light collection efficiency. In conjunction with the BIONZ X image processor, it minimizes noise throughout a wide sensitivity range of ISO 100-51200. The highly conductive copper in the circuitry significantly accelerates readout speed in order for the camera to offer 4K movie recording with full pixel readout without pixel binning and Full HD 120fps shooting among its advanced functions.

The α6300 introduces a high-contrast, high-resolution, high-visibility XGA OLED Tru-Finder that reproduces darkness and color in very fine detail, as well as a mode to display images at the higher frame rate of 120fps (100fps), so you can see action smoothly and track it easily on this electronic viewfinder. There is also a new mode available for the viewfinder that allows display of images at 120Hz, ensuring that action is displayed smoothly with very few afterimages for the sense of immediacy you get when shooting with an optical viewfinder, making subject tracking through the Tru-finder easier than ever.

4K movie recording - See the ultimate high resolution in 4K movies

The α6300 records high-resolution 4K movies of wide dynamic range in the Super 35mm format favored among cinema camera users. Full pixel readout without pixel binning collects approx. 2.4 times (6K equivalent) as much information as is required for 4K (QFHD: 3840 x 2160) movie output. With an incredible 425 focal plane phase-detection AF points densely positioned over the entire image area, this comprehensive AF point coverage ensures that no subject escapes its attention. Enhanced Fast Hybrid AF - With the world’s highest AF speed (0.05 s) assisted by the ultra-efficient BIONZ X image processing engine, you can instantly capture a fast-moving subject with supreme accuracy. For supremely reliable accuracy and tracking stability, new High-density Tracking AF Technology activates AF points to cover the area around the subject with approx. 7.5 times as much density as the α6000.
