Based on the manufacturer's info, the specifications for these are almost the same as the cheaper, mostly favorably-reviewed MDR-110LP, the difference being with the 210LP: 1.) The wire is longer (specified 5ft.), 2.) a very slightly extended bass response (probably not audible), and 3.) the inclusion of a quarter-inch stereo plug in addition to the standard mini-plug. The headband is also adjustable on these. I'm not sure the 110LP's are adjustable. I don't have the 110LP's, the Amazon reviews for the 110LP conflict on this point and Sony's website doesn't mention it.

I got mine at Target. It's a little difficult to criticize a super-low dollar stereo component, unless it doesn't work at all and I figured at this price, when it breaks you just get another.

I returned a Sennheiser PX100, mainly because it wasn't built much better than this, I didn't need a headset to fold and the midbass wasn't ridiculously overwhelming like it is on the Sennheiser and of course the 210LP is a lot less expensive.

Although riddled with small frequency aberrations, I found the sound listenable and even occasionally enjoyable using a variety of AC-powered sources - a couple receivers and integrated amplifiers. It isn't as smooth in the midrange as the PX100, for example, but not particularly irritating. The midbass is full without being over-emphasized as it is on so many other headphones providing much more intelligible speech. This characteristic alone made me keep it. It's a bit less efficient than more expensive headphones, but this is of not much consequence, except that it may be easier to burn it out.

I've used this model of phones for audiobooks & movies for several years now and consider them a terrific bargain. For the money the sound is just fine and "open air" phones are far superior to other types for simple comfort. The real sweet factor here is that this model only has one cord coming out of one side of the earphone. This is something you would expect from a quality earphone (I have two expensive Sennheisers for classical music and know a good set when I hear it). One person found the cord too long: to each his own. What I like is that one cord headphones don't get tangled wires which every set of two cord cheap phones I've owned has been plagued by. If you're a serious classical music listener, get out your checkbook. For general use this is a great product.

I can't wear the in-ear canal earphones for long and the in-ear ones keep slipping out. This stays put and has good sound. The wire seems strong and since it is on one side only, is easy to manage. It has slightly thicker plug, but it fits fine in my iphone 4 and I can listen to radios. There is no mic in the headphones which is what I expected since I plan to use only for listening.

These headphones aren't great sounding but they're very good for the price. They are light-weight, have a 5' cord, come with a 1/4" adapter, and have the headphone wire going into the left earpiece only (the wire runs through the headband, avoiding having to wire both the left and right earpieces from the usual spots).
Overall I like these. I use them at work at my desk and a 3' cord was a bit too short to move around my desk without yanking my old headphones (also Sony) off my head. I'd recommend these for the price/performance balance.

I bought these to use with a laptop computer and they work well. They are small enough to fit in the laptop bag without taking up too much room. The frequency response and tonal quality is good enough for watching movies or listening to music on a portable media player, and they are comfortable to wear. I can't stand earbuds, so if you are like me and insist on over-the-ear headphones for a portable media player, these will work well. The cord isn't very long, so plan on using them with an extension cord if you are going to be more than a couple of feet away from the sound source. For the under-$10 price, the build and sound quality are as good as any of the other similar Sony portable headphones I have owned over the last 20 years or so. I have owned other brands of similar portable headphones and mostly they aren't as comfortable, and feel flimsier, than Sony's, and the sound isn't as clean, even when they cost somewhat more. Highly recommended.

Compared to the similarly-styled MDR-110 LPs, the bass response in these open-air headphones is a bit deeper. Overall, for a $10 pair of headphones the sound quality is pretty decent. Not as full of a sound as a $100 pair of studio or noise-canceling headphones, but a huge improvement over the freebies that the airlines dish out.

Comfort-wise, after a two-hour bike ride, I still don't feel like I'm wearing anything and my ears are not sore (unless I play my music too loud). These headphones don't block outside noises that much, which is a good thing for me when I'm on the bicycle and want to hear approaching traffic. However, these headphones will not do a good job of blocking out indoor gym noise.

The only major drawback for me is the extra-long cord. Who needs 5'? The extra length might be beneficial for some settings, like an office, where you don't want to feel so tethered. However since I use them exclusively for working out, and the excessive cordage just gets in the way. I found that a paper clip helps.

Overall, a decent pair of headphones for casual listening, or for working out.
