Quality - about what I expected for the price. I'm not an audiophile so these work for me, but I bet someone with an ear for high quality will note that these are economy class. Still, they have good volume even in noisy environments. They don't block out noise much, so don't get these if you're looking for that. I chose them because they don't block noise, so I'm satisfied. Also, the loudness in the ear does not correlate strongly with the noise others may hear, so no need to worry about others hearing a buzzing noise. I keep the lowest setting on my mp3 player and it's still quite loud without being bothersome to others.
Fit - good fit around my ears, and a lot of movement does not make them fall out. Also, I wear glasses which do not interfere with the fit of the headphones. I've worked out with them and fallen asleep with them on and they usually stay on. They come with a nice clip to attach to your shirt or pocket to keep the cord from swinging around. They're quite comfortable even while wearing for long periods.
Pros: Good fit and volume, decent sound, great for exercise.
Cons: Won't fit all ears equally, not for audiophiles.
Update: Well I said I would be happy if these headphones lasted 6 months, and I guess I am eating my words a bit. I have owned these for just about 9 months now (ordered back in December 2011) and I am looking to replace them. A few things I noticed after a bit of extended use that you should look out for - sometimes, when just starting a run, I would get a pretty severe shock from the left earbud. It only ever happened with the left, and I am pretty sure only when I was on a treadmill, although I can't be sure. I don't know what caused it, and it wouldn't happen EVERY time I ran, just sometimes, but the shock was severe enough to be distracting and even painful. Usually it would stop after a while, but once or twice it was bad enough I had to remove the headphones completely and run without my music. I found that the right earbud did not stay in my ear as well as the left, and often during my runs I would have to reach up and adjust it so it would not fall out. Finally, just the other day while I was running, I noticed that was I getting distinctly less sound out of the right earbud than the left. This was the final straw for me and I am going to replace them.
Like I said, $15 is pretty cheap, and I guess you get what you pay for. I got about nine months out of decent use out of mine (not counting the shocks, I guess). I will not be buying a replacement pair, but rather looking for something a little more durable.
One advantage to these headphones are that the loops that go around your ears allow you to adjust how much external noise you can block. If you want to focus/concentrate on what you're listening to, you can push the earbuds into your ears. If someone's talking to you, or you want to be more aware of your surroundings, you can have them hang more loosely in your ears--great for listening for traffic or other things while running.
During my extensive usage of these headphones, I've come into a few problems and am willing to offer my solutions to you so you can get the biggest bang for your buck.
1. Avoid losing sound channels. Let's face it. The wires fore headphones are brittle and often enough they bend and break way too easily. One solution for that is to tape the cord around the headphone jack for added stability. I used scotch tape, but I'm sure any tape will do. This will almost completely nullify the experience of one headphone dying due to an exposed or breached cable/wire and it literally adds MONTHS to your shelf-life. I didn't think about this trick until I purchased my second pair of headphones, unfortunately, but it really made them last (two years.)
2. If you're an avid runner or you work out hard like me, your headphones may randomly seem to reduce in sound quality or stop completely. I found when my sound quality was reduced, I had some earwax blocking the channels on one or both of my earbuds. By taking a can of compressed air, or a toothpick, you can clean out the pores in your earbuds and have the sound working again as though the headphones were brand-new. You can also blow into them manually or suck out the earwax that way, but I don't recommend it since it's not very effective.
I really like these headphones and they've become my personal headphones of choice. They do all I need them to do and they're really affordable, especially if you use the longevity-increasing tips I mentioned above. As a result, I give these headphones a 5/5 in quality.
