The only headphones I would use

I am not sure why, but these are the only ones that are just right for me. I use these at my computer, when I don't want to disturb other people in the room. This is my third pair. First one lasted 4 years, second one gave me 6. Between them I tried some other brands and some other Sony models, but somehow always came back to these. They are not the highest quality build (I did repair the ones that lasted for 6 years a few times: new plug, cracked plastic, replacement ear muffs), but still for me they are the perfect design, just the right amount of pressure, ear piece size that is just what I need, and nice long cord. I really hope, that when the time runs out for this set Sony would still be making this model.

Volume goes loud (and I like loud music!) and the surrounding noise is phased down somewhat, but you still can hear if necessary.. good comfortable padded ear covers. Makes a great gift👍🏼

this is my second pair. my first pair lasted YEARS... 6-7+ and were my primary headphones on the computer... until my toddler threw them on the floor :)

I bought these as a replacement. in my opinion, you cannot get a better set of headphones for the $... IDK if you could beat them for twice as much, either... I think you'd have to spend $80+ to truly get better.

This is the fourth pair I have purchased over the years (I always seem to misplace headphones), and they are worth every penny. I bought these for my wife to use on recent 14-hour flights to and from China. She's not as fussy as I am about the "fi" in hi-fi, and thought they were pretty good. The coating on the cushions is a little different on these - smoother, not wrinkled like most other headphones I've used. We will see how well it holds up.

The good: Well worth what I paid for them. Just be sure to look at all sellers, because there's quite a range of prices. Personally, I would not buy used when there's so little difference in price for new.

The not-quite-as-good: I wanted white, and bought these for the model number, thinking they would probably sound the same as my old black MDR-V150s. However, they do not. If you have some EQ adjustment available when you are using these, they should meet your basic listening needs nicely. They certainly sound better than any earbuds I've ever tried to use, and they stay where you put them. Compared to my original black V150s, they are more sensitive, so you get more sound for the same volume setting, but the increase in output seems to be concentrated in the midrange, while the highs are slightly subdued. So, the "fi" in these is noticeably not as high as in my old black set, which I have always felt was outstanding for a small, low-priced set of headphones.

Using these with apps like Windows Media Player or the VLC Media Player, which have a software equalizer included with the player, you can make them sound however you want them to. In that case I'd say they're a good bet for general use headphones. But if your player device or app has no EQ adjustment, and depending on your hearing sensitivity across the spectrum, these might sound a bit hot in the high-midrange and soft in the highs.

I know they're just a low-priced set, but since they carry the same brand and model number as another low-priced Sony set that I thought was fantastic for the price, I thought they were worth a more detailed review. If I could, I would give them 3 1/2 stars.

Considering that these headphones sell for under £20, I think the sound quality is great: it's clear and doesn't distort at higher volumes. The cable length from jack to split is 1.5m, about 2m to each headphone. If you really need a top end set of cans, then go and spend a three figure sum on them. If, however, you want a good everyday set of headphones, you can't go wrong with the Sony MDR-V150. It's true that after prolonged use, the leather covering the ear pads thins and flakes off. This happened to my old pair of Sony MDR-V300s. I've done some research into this and found out that our skin produces a slightly acidic oil which helps fight infections. The side effect is that over time, the skin oil erodes the thin leather covering the pads. Fortunately, the pads can be easily replaced. Alternatively, you could wipe a little pH neutral cream on the leather every so often to protect it. All in all, highly recommended.

For the price these are a steal.

I particularly enjoy the detailed mid range on these. The bass is there but not overpowering. The high end could maybe be better but honestly for the money there is nothing to complain about here. They hit above their price range for sure. I bought them as budget DJ headphones and am also finding myself taking them out with me for general music listening so this says a lot. I have another set of Sony headphones that go for twice the price and these are honestly better. They get plenty loud too!

For the last maybe 8+ years I have only used these headphones, the quality of the sound is quite good, but it does leak a bit of sound when you’re listening to music loud. Noise cancellation wise, its ..okay, its not bad at all, but it could be better. They are quite durable if you take good care of them, I found that mine usually broke because the frame would snap due to stepping on them by accident or when too much pressure is applied to them (NEVER put them at the bottom of a bag, but them at the top!) but that can always be fixed with super glue! And sometimes if you’re not careful enough the jack can bend a little bit or snap off completely.. but that was mainly due to me being careless.
Nowdays I use earphones all the time, as they leak less sound and are more portable, but I still use these headphones in my piano. They have the best sound quality in my piano compared to every other earphones/headphones I have ever tried out!

Do be wary that both the black headphones and the white headphones are actually two different products. The white headphones I purchased came with higher quality ear cup covers unlike the thin elastic sheet that comes with the black headphones. It also doesn't look cheap, it actually looks more attractive, and costs the same: a little under £15.

I myself don't actually use it for its intended purpose and damage it much quicker than it should wear over time so I can't really gauge if it is durable. However, abusing it by listening to music on my smartphone whilst shoving it in either my jacket pockets or my jeans pockets lasts about 6 months, which is a lot to me especially considering the price.

These are excellent headphones - as they're comfortable to wear, and provide good stereo audio quality. They're especially designed for use by DJ's - as each earcup is reversible (and can flip 180 degree) allowing the user to listen to the music while also hearing what's going-on around them.

These headphones are well-made and very durable - I bought a pair in 2010 and they still work perfectly now. Given their price - under £15 - they're a bargain. They're fitted with a 3.5mm jack and come with a standard jack attachment. The cord is long (over 2m) so you can move about around the disco equipment while using these headphones.

Overall, a fantastic product.
